If you could get Aaron Rowand in the trade, too, I'd probably never be a White Sox fan again.

A's offense after 8 games:

Fewest extra base hits in the AL.

Second fewest runs scored in the AL.

.203 BA with RISP.

Yuck.

I feel for you.

My Indians are dead last in the AL in batting, next to last in OBP, tied for last in runs scored... so much for their much talked about offense....

Plus side? The bullpen which had so many problems last year is 3rd in the AL in ERA. Your A's are first in that category.

Gotta feel bad for Haren. No decision last week and one bad pitch costs him a game because the big hit just isn't there. Swisher shows promise busting out of that slump with a 2-run double last night. Lots of rookies who are in platoon situations might have continued a downward spiral right out of playing time.

Anyone still sore about Mulder for Haren.

Mulder throught the 5th today has allowed 11 runs in 11 innings.

I also feel bad for Chucky T too - that line drive down the left field line would have been a game-tying double if not for the defensive heroics of Reed Johnson. I think he's still waiting for his first green and gold hit.

Yeah, I think Mulder for Haren was definitely the better of the two deals. And we got Daric Barton out of that too, remember?

yeah i remember, we also got some guy called Kiko Calero, who hasn't allowed a run this season and I believe didn't allow a run all spring. Turning out to be a hell of a deal for Oakland.

Of course, I don't wish bad on Mulder, but when he struggles it makes me glad we made the deal.

Yeah, that was a well timed defensive substitution by the Jays skipper - Johnson had just come in that inning. I don't think Catalanotto would have made that play.

Those who know what's going on thought that was a good trade for Oakland from the beginning. The Hudson trade is the one that will take some time to convince people.

Barton may be the best pure hitter in the minor leagues.

I've always thought that one a good trade. Especially with Mulder's injury and his mental ???. Saw a sports psychiatrist the last half of the season and it still didn't help. For some reason or another he seems to be in his own head.

Nick Swisher for ROY. The kid can play. Not only that but he works hard and has a good idea what it takes to suceed.

Blanton solid outing. Street got touched for a run in a pressure situation but we'll see how he rebounds.

Kendall delivers again. With him behind red-hot Kotsay it will be interesting to see how teams handle that man on second 1-out scenario all year. Toronto gets burned this time.

Big game tomorrow with Zito needing to rebound from two tough starts to begin the season. Hopefully he can get it done.

The AL West is just screaming parity right now. The Angels will not run away with this division. Seattle and Texas don't have the starting pitching. The A's just need some consistency and they'll be fine.

I always liked Mulder but I was glad BB moved him when he did.. I don't think we could've gotten a better deal than we did.

I didn't get to see the game last night but I read on an A's board that Dotel was only topping out at 90-91? Too early in the year to worry about that, I know

Dotel sucked quite bad and we're lucky he was able to end the game. 4-run lead, and this is what he does:

- E. Hinske walked - S. Hillenbrand struck out swinging - G. Zaun doubled to right, E. Hinske to third - A. Rios grounded out to shortstop, E. Hinske scored - R. Adams walked - R. Johnson struck out swinging

Notice there were two runners on and the tying run at the plate with two ourts. Dotel went 3-1 on Johnson, and gave him a meat pitch right down the pipe. Dotel can thank his lucky stars that Johnson was split second off the pitch and fouled it straight back. It came very close to be a 6-6 game and going into extra innings.

Go A's! I'm a Giants fan but I always wish well on the cross-bay counterparts (unless it's interleague, of course).

What's the story with Charles Thomas, is he starting or platooning? Also how about Byrnesy, I played Little League against that guy. You could just tell he was special, even then.

Chucky and Byrnes are platooning, with Byrnes against lefties most times and Thomas against righties. So basically Macha will just go by the #s. Byrnes will start against Colon Friday becuase of his 7-for-14 lifetime numbers.
