Sorry, your right out of a possible 251 games, Josh has played only 23 games above Single A, where he hit a robust .180 with 22 K's in 89 AB's. He seems to be more concerned with where his next tatoo is going to be than where he'll play. And if you don't believe me about the 23 games, go here http://www.sports-wired.com/players/....asp?Name=FFHG

He clearly struggled in A ball, but look what he did in AA....It's all basically personal opinion. How would doing bad in A ball rule out being good in AA ball?

just that fact that his head isn't screwed on straight. ;-)...I'm pretty sure that he's number 2 to John Rocker though...

I don't know alot about Hamilton as a human being. This sounds interesting, would anyone care to get into details?

No, your reading it wrong UD. Orlando is AA, everything else is A and below. He didn't want to play baseball for a time a year or two ago. He said he wasn't that intrested, and I believe it was when he was trying to come back from a knee injury. So, he took all of last year off.

UD,
Hamilton is still rated a 3 star prospect in my set; which in my opinion is VERY generous for a former elite prospect not even on the radar screen in MLB 2004. He has ratings of AGAAA, which should generate a player that hits .260-280, 32+ doubles, 20+ HR, 50+ BB, 100+ Ks. 3 Star is appx B- on the prospect scale I discussed earlier in this post. Also guys dont jump the gun on prospects in general; Im currently going through John Sickels book and editing them as I go. If you don't agree with my assessment, by all means CHANGE it to what you want! In the end, I'll assess near 1,000 prospects plus nearly 700-900 MLB players. As usual, not everyone will agree with ratings/talents. Version 1.2 ONLY has splits for players on the 25 active roster (in general, some of the AAA ball guys are too....) As for Badelli, yes he is a very good player (4 Stars is appx B+ out of my A thru C- scale) His ratings are GGAFA, with VERY good defense (B), and good arm (B); this in addition to GREAT speed (A), and very good stealing ability (B). He should hit over .300, with 32+ 2b, around 20 Homers, 30+ walks, and strike out in the area of 80-120 times. Seems reasonable to me?!? Not every single good young player in pro ball is a 5 Star prospect; in reality John Sickels only names I believe 9 players as "super elite status" out of the near 1,000 he rates in the book.(aka 5 Star) Most of the stud prospects will be rated 4-5 stars in the set. Please understand that I enjoy feedback, but cannot alter every single player someone "thinks" should be something else! If I did that, the roster set would never be finished!!!! |

I'm anxiously awaiting this roster set, thanks for putting the time into it. I'm sure we'll disagree on several players but as you said it is easy enough for me to go in and edit them myself.

CBL - Question on the Prospects you are entering now.
Are they going to be assigned to the various teams, or be placed in the FA pool? Is there any way to introduce these players into the Amateur draft slowly each season? I think you mentioned that there will be 900+ prospects. I am running an online league, and would like to use these prospects in the amateur drafts over many seasons. Just a thought. Thanks for all of your hard work! |

Phan,
The prospects are placed on their current respective team (and appx level of A,AA, or AAA) |

Great work CBL. Gotta love that people that go all-out on roster sets like you are.
For the guy on Hamilton: About Bonds on steroids and Bradley a headcase, those guys have major league stats to go by, is what he meant when he said ML ready (or whatever he said), with all prospects (which Hamilton still is) you have to go by what people are projecting of the guy. And frankly right now, he's not even projected to make the major leagues (They don't think the guy cares enough), so 3-star will give him a nice career as a quality 4th OF/decent bottom-of-the-order 3rd OF. You can edit him if you wish to give him more, and if he bounces back with a great first half this year, well then anyone who edits this roster set to the public I'm sure will gladly change his talents. For the guy about Bonds' ratings: Yes Bonds has had tremendous numbers the last three years, and his 8-18-19 numbers do seem to be way off but you must remember, OOTP bases their ratings on 550ABs. Bonds never receives 550ABs because he walks so much, last year he only got 390ABs, 405 the year before. So he's getting these 85 HR/250BB ratings (or whatever his numbers come out to), because based on 550ABs, that's what he would do. He never reaches those numbers in OOTP, and his age makes him decline anyways. |

CBL Cards is going off the John Sickels book, so if someone really has a problem, e-mail Sickels at johnsickels@aol.com
Also, Hamilton still has good tools, but he hasn't shown he can hit, which is where most of the ratings seem to come in. Just think, if he shows something in AAA this season, you can have a superstar Hamilton in CBL Roster Set 2005

Hey gang,
Quick update for Sunday night March 7th... Thus far, the last prospect I edited was Braves rhp Kenny "Bubba" Nelson (page 260 out of 370...getting closer....) I still hope to keep the release set to Monday, March 15th. I'll have a better idea depending on how much progress I've made by this weekend. Keep those fingers crossed!

CBL...I keep playing with your set, and I have to say, the more I sim, the more I am impressed with your ratings...
Question though amigo: Will this roster set be compatible with OOTP6 and the new 0-100 ratings? I guess I can just throw the question out there... Is every roster set going to be compatible with the new ratings... Excuse me, but I know nothing about programming, so to the common man, this seems like it is impossible...Am I wrong? |

Mkbdoe,
Thanks for the positive words ![]() You WILL be able to import this set to OOTP6, and the game will randomly assign ratings to things not currently in version 5 (such as infield arm strength, etc.) It should still feel right; guys like Bonds will still own God-like ratings, etc. Remember, Version 6 has several different sets of talents/ratings, not just the 0-10 set currently in Version 5. I think there is 1-5, 2-8, 1-10, 1-20, and 1-100. I'm anxious myself to use this set in Version 6!

CBL...Small question about your set, and I'm not sure if it was intentional, you being what I assume a Cardinal fan, but I noticed in the League Record Book, under HRs, Roger Maris with 61? I know you wouldn't be direspecting my boy Barry now would you? He is innocent until proven guilty my friend...Good luck this season
