It would nice if you are able to adjust the number of preseason games.

I am going to copy/past from last year, because custom leagues were not touched in the version update. FHM12 was the first version I did not purchase based on the lack of any updates to custom world building.
A bit of love for us custom world builders. There's a lot here, but adding any of these would be amazing. - I like to create large worlds, and doing that in one sitting in impossible. Create a system so that I can create one league or region, save it as a template, and come back later and keep adding. This would also keep my one stupid error that I inevitably make from ruining hours of work. Or possibly create a template in excel or something that the game can read into the league creation screen. - Allow for promotion/relegation to be added later on in years. This would alleviate the above issue, as I could create a small world and grow it organically as I go along. - More than one team promotion/relegation. - Keep detailed stats from international club tournaments. When my fictional Red Wings play in a North American club continental tournament against a fictional Dominican powerhouse, I want to know each teams history in that tournament. And maybe head to head. - Finances in the top flight should be much higher than those in the lower leagues, and market size should have a much larger effect on budgets. As it is, teams in the bottom tier with very small markets have the same budget as my teams in the top tier with huge markets. I would like to Wrexam a small club from a bottom tier and see if can promote them up to the NHL. - I would also like to change historical plays drastically - i.e., Europe remains the same, but I would like to simulate that the 2009 mistake that the NHL made by putting PITTSBURGH PENGUINS on the Cup instead of DETROIT RED WINGS caused a huge split in the league and introduce promotion/relegation in a number of north american leagues who all play each other in a giant Champions League-type tournament. - Multiple club tournaments available for a single team - a domestic club tournament, an international club tournament, etc. Maybe this requires me to input defined schedule dates for league play and different tournaments so there's no conflicts. I'm ok with that. Like I said, there's a lot here, and a lot to build on in the future. Maybe some of these could be implemented sooner than others. |

"- More than one team promotion/relegation."
I´m pretty sure at least this is already possible.

I am still hoping to see International Tournaments like the Olympics or World Championships in Custom leagues. Will I ever see this?

There's loads of stuff mentioned here and it must pull the devs into all sorts of directions planning to take the game forward. I've posted many times previously and things just probably get lost over multiple pages, but one thing I really feel is being overlooked is the gameday experience itself, which is something that applies itself to across all game modes regardless of individual preference.
The fun in FHM is how it tells hockey stories whether that's historical, future or custom... That's the game's strength, its USP and it's what makes people want to engage with it. But it really requires some TLC through better design and improved usability (better presentation and info being more accessible) to enable FHM to tell its stories and do what it does best. The text sim engine is very tired looking and 'dull' as a playing experience and although I know 2D is supposedly being looked at, currently, it's just not good a fun experience at all. It doesn't look, sound or play anything like real hockey - even for 2D (I'm not suggesting 3D as that's completely unrealistic). Away from 2d siming, the sim result screen is also poorly laid out. You even have to do a double take sometimes just to read the scoreline as to how it's worded (just stick a simple score on there, why so wordy?!) and there has to be a better design to prevent the long scrolling just to pick out info you want. There are loads of things that can be improved and need reworking in the game and I get you are small dev team on a small budget - hence why I purchase the game every year - but considering the game is edging towards one and a half decades' worth of releases (!), some serious work on polish and improvements to existing features are long overdue. If any devs do read, this is wholly meant as constructive and thanks for reading. Last edited by Colorado; 02-22-2026 at 08:02 AM. |

Thank you for the feedback (everyone else of course too!). I read every thread/post here and talk many things through with Malte.
On the topic of Match Engine: I agree 100% with everything you write and every year I bring this up on the team. Unfortunately not everyone agrees on this and the results are what they are. I have a few specific questions: 1. With "text sim engine" you mean the in-game sim-screen using the old engine, right? 2. The "sim result screen" is the post-game screen or the boxscore screen (or both)? Quote:

Something else I'd like to see and it would also be helpful to those new to the game are potential solutions to negatives listed in the Postgame Analysis. If a player has been beaten by a puckhandler frequently, list potential solutions for the user.

1. Yes, I mean the text simulation based on the old engine. I appreciate this is unlikely to be a key area of focus given it's part of the old engine but if you don't want to sim the result, it's the only alternative to 2D. Personally, I find it a bit dull and a fresh, updated design would make it more fun to sim actual games. 2. Sorry, I wasn't very clear. The purpose of 'sim result screen' (the screen immediately after siming a result) seems confused. After siming, the very first thing people will look for is the game result but it's not presented in a very clear way. It shows the final score twice, detailing it for each team (at the top-left of the screen), with their league record. Because the result is listed twice on the line, sometimes you need to re-read the text to make sure you're not looking at the opposing team's result. Example: Sometimes I'll read the opposing team's score seeing the 'L' and seconds later, realise I was reading the wrong team and I'd actually won! ha If the main purpose of that screen is to show the result of the game, then it should be clearer and easier to read at a glance. Following that, what's the screen's next objective? It clearly displays the 3 stars (good!), but no other basic stats. It lists the goalies and star players, but no contextual info around that. It seems to want to present us with info but doesn't quite do it. I'm not saying the information that is available on that screen is useless because the season series record and info on who played well/poor is useful to know, but are these the immediate details we need from the game? I'm not so sure. After that, then we have the box score screen (the second screen). Here, the score is how I'd expect it to be presented on the previous screen - logos and clearly defined (ideal!). The top part of the screen is good and serves its purpose well. All the main relevant information is easy to view - although I would like to see power play chances/conversion and shots on goal per period to be listed here and not all the way at the bottom of what is a very long screen. My main issue with this screen is how the game events are presented on those very wide rows. They currently list goals from the period first and then show a secondary list of rows with the penalties from that same period. I would like to see a chronological list of events from the game, but with scoring aligned to the left side of the screen and penalties aligned to the right. By doing this, you will immediately get an easier read of the actual flow of the game and also less scrolling - this comes back to my point in the previous post about 'storytelling'. At a quick glance, you will be able to see who scored on one side and penalties on the other. You could even included the SOG for each period on the first heading row for each period, so something like this: PERIOD 1 SUMMARY; SOG 13-8 5:25 TEAM | SCORER |ASSIST|ASSIST|SCORE| (aligned to left of screen) 7:40 TEAM | PENALTY| (aligned to right of screen) 8:20 TEAM | SCORER |ASSIST|ASSIST|SCORE| (aligned to left of screen) PERIOD 2 SUMMARY; SOG 10-11 1:16 TEAM | PENALTY| (aligned to right of screen) 10:33 TEAM | PENALTY| (aligned to right of screen) 18:30 TEAM | SCORER |ASSIST|ASSIST|SCORE| (aligned to left of screen) The big blocks of info at the bottom of the screen for each team with all the various player ratings, stats, and TOI details seems to work ok. After all, it's a large block of necessary information and there's no other obvious how to present it than the way it currently is. However, as already mentioned, I would raise the SOG per period and special teams info near to the top as I've explained. Sorry for long post and apologies if any of this is unclear. If easier I can try and make up some visual explanations using screen shots. Hopefully it can give you guys some food for thought. Last edited by Colorado; 02-25-2026 at 06:09 PM. |

If it helps any here are screens of leaders from 12 seasons simmed in historical mode on 2D engine completely. You can see quite a lot of years goal leader had more goals than assist leader. I did look it up and it happend about 4 times since 1930 so while it happens it's rare.
As bonus here is Gretzky who can't pass the puck to save his life... ![]() In that span of years he had irl 632 - 543+977. Quote:

I've noticed the same thing (that goal scorers routinely have more goals than assists) and I've been meaning to look up, not just how many times it's happened with the goal leader, but just all skaters that score 40+ in a season. That will give a much greater sample size.

Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully Jeff will give us some insides if it works as intended or if there is something wrong with the 2D engine.

On the Depth Charts page, it would be great if beside each player it said if they were or were not waiver eligible.
More than 1 rival at a time. How many hat tricks the player scores throughout their career. Name of the original team that the pick belongs to on all relevant screens. Not major but would be cool to see when doing the draft loto, is if you could keep the original pick order on the left hand side and then show the updated order on the right. Inform a team that you are interested in one of their players. Maybe they don't immediately want to trade them but this allows the team to know that you are a trade target for the future. Feedback on trade proposals. Implement sign and trades. It would be cool, if when looking at career points, there was a way to break up totals for each team rather then having to do the math. I love the Playoff Preview's, could you guys add some more to it? Maybe goalie stats and top scorer's, maybe some sort of matchup expectations'? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I know it has been said a lot but the trade mechanic is so broken. I am on year 9 and teams are constantly trading 4+ star under 25 years old, for 2 star players over 34 years old. Another thing I dont get and just happened. The Flames and Redwings both in the middle of the season waived 3.5 star 23,25 year old players. When I did a deeper dive the one guy had a OFF 760 potential and DEF 745 potential. Trust me when I say that neither of these 2 teams has a team, nor organization deep enough that it can justify this move. Las Vegas has traded Mathew ****Face 2 times to Florida in a single season while never owning his rights. ****Face was signed by Florida during the summer and during the following season Vegas somehow gained his rights and traded him. In the Bio, there is no mention of how this happened and neither in career stats. Last edited by Nuck; 02-27-2026 at 10:18 AM. |

Can you tell me how to post a screenshot please? I probably already deleted the save of when it happened but I can show it in the Bio with a screenshot.

If you do this at the start of the game and starting +6 teams. But if you want expand your league and change it later. That is not possible. |

When you are picking HOF players, it would be very helpful to have the ability to hover over the players name and see their achievement's and stats.
Adding the ability to create salary min-max would be great. It would be really helpful to know what draft pick belongs to what spot in the draft order. EI. I own Van's 1st, Bos's 1st and Tor's 1st. When looking at the draft order, you can not tell which pick is who's. It makes it hard to make a trade with the one you want to, especially sense you can not look back and see the prior years final team standings. Be able to see past years NHL standings. You can look at past years standings in the history section.
