Playoffs Finals
The Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup after sweeping both the St. Louis Blues and New York Rangers in the final two rounds. After the exit and being interviewed during the locker room cleanout, GM Meyer was interviewed. "Losing in the Conference Finals is tough, no doubt about it. But we'll use this motivation to come back stronger next season. We'll analyze what went wrong, make adjustments, and keep pushing forward towards that ultimate goal of our team hoisting the Cup over our heads." When being asked about Dustin Brown's performance of 14 points in 15 games during the playoffs, GM Meyer had this to say, "Dustin Brown's performance was outstanding. He did everything we could have asked for. Leading the team with 14 points in 15 games shows his dedication and skills on the ice. He's a leader both on and off the ice, and his performance was crucial getting us to the Conference Finals. We'll continue to rely on his leadership and talent as we strive for success in the future." |

He's stronger than most of the players in the draft and has great stamina. We can look to him to log some heavy minutes. We know that he is not the most physical player, but that is not something that overly concerned us.

![]() Trade News Ottawa Senators send: Colin Fraser, C, 26 Toronto Maple Leafs send Carlo Colaiacovo, RD, 28 Waivers Corey Schneider claimed off waivers by Anaheim Ducks Carl Gunnersson claimed off waivers by St. Louis Blues Season Preview NHL season is about to get underway, the early Stanley Cup favorites appear to be Chicago Blackhawks, led by winger Patrick Kane. General Manager Dale Tallon has built quite a squad that will be the team to beat this year, but they can expect challenges from Zack Meyer's Blues and Pittsburgh, featuring Center Sidney Crosby. Among the darkhorses, Boston stands out as a possible challenger, with a big season by Patrice Bergeron capable of pushing them into contender status. The scoring race will likely see Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby challenged by Alex Ovechkin of Washington and Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin. The top defenseman in the league is generally considered to be Minnesota Wild blueliner Brent Burns, with New York's Erik Karlsson and Shea Weber of Nashville also in the running. Finally, among goaltenders, New York's Henrik Lundqvist stands out as the league's best, while Pittsburgh Penguins netminder Marc-Andre Fleury and Jaroslav Halak of Montreal can also steal games for their teams. Playoffs
Round 1 Columbus Blue Jackets - enter with a season record of 4-2 "Columbus put up a heck of a fight. A lot of those games were closer than what the score might show. Games could have gone either way. But right now we were in this position last year, so we're going to rest up and start to prepare for the next round immediately." Head coach Zack Meyer had to say after securing the round victory. Round 2 Minnesota Wild - enter with season record of 3-1 "We knew coming in that this team was nothing to overlook. They had a great season with some really high producing players. This team was prepared because as soon as we came off of our gameplan, they would snatch us up. Our guys did a great job at sticking to the plan and played our game." Captain Dustin Brown had to say in the final rounds post game interview. Round 3 Anaheim Ducks - enter with season record of 4-0 "We had a great record against the Ducks in the regular season, we knew that if we played our game against them that same way, we might succeed again. They gave us one heck of a fight though so we are happy that we could secure this round. We are close but not know that we haven't won anything yet. This next round will the toughest of them all. Both teams coming into this round have gone through the same battles and both can smell victory. We need to tighten up and be ready." David Backes was quoted saying after morning skate. Round 4 Boston Bruins - enter with season record 1-0 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS! "You work so hard all season, from offseason, to training camp, to the grind of a regular season and then making it through playoffs - it's no wonder to me that I can't stop crying" Blues coach and GM Zack Meyer said, with tears rolling down his face. "Our guys have a lot of pride and to come out on top, it's an amazing feeling." The feeling was hardly amazing on the other side of the ice, where the Bruins were dealt a stinging defeat. "Its cold comfort to now we came this far but didn't win," said Boston head coach Claude Julien. "At the end of the season, there's only one team that can call themselves champions - for the rest of us it's an empty feeling until you can get there." Blues Playoff Leaders Goals Logan Couture - 10 Anze Kopitar - 7 Dustin Brown - 7 Assists Anze Kopitar - 10 David Krejci - 10 Dustin Brown - 9 Points Anze Kopitar - 17 Dustin Brown - 16 Logan Couture - 16 |
