By the way, currently am working on building an jersey font set and found this to be a great resource for free font downloads: http://legionfonts.com/

Just thought I would share this. Also I'd be down to share the font set once it is complete in case you might want to include it in your uniform maker @eriqjaffe that way people won't have to do much searching for fonts.

Also, was wondering if you had done any thinking about a logo maker program? I had been using justafan's Pickoff ever since I learned about it, but I feel like it is rather limited in its capabilities. I have since used GIMP for more customization, but it can be overwhelming for people unfamiliar with photo editors (I know it was for me).

I also have some programming experience, but taking on a project like this seems like a bit much for someone who hasn't really worked with standalone app's like this.

I don't have the game for another few days, but I was just curious: is there an option to turn fonts off and just use old '23 jerseys?

Hey Eriq,

Just a thought:

Would it be worth it to implement a feature where you could export the word mark separately à la the uniform numbers? Basically what I’m saying is in addition to exporting the number separately, the pants separately, the cap separately, and the jerseys separately, we’d also be able to export a file of the wordmark separately that would be imported into OOTP. Again, just a thought. it may or may not be worth it.

Yes, in the edit colors, jersey etc. section, there is a checkbox where you can disable both the names and numbers.

I think the built-in fonts are plenty, but I like the idea of an add-on pack.

I've thought about it, but never bothered starting anything. Maybe someday, maybe not.

drksd4848 already answered, but the other method is to use a blank .webp or .png file. As long as it's a 1:1 aspect ration (like 256x256) and transparent it should work the way you are thinking

I'm not sure how much use it would get, but it wouldn't be terribly difficult to do for sure.

Version 0.8.5 has been released

What's Fixed

Switched to a new library to handle local fonts - versions 0.8.2 and 0.8.3 had been using ttfinfo for the button & drop imports and fontscan for the folder, but those weren't always consistent. Version 0.8.4 used fontscan for all the font imports, but it was failing on more fonts than ttfinfo had been. I was unable to make ttfinto work with the font folder for reasons I'm still not quite getting. Came across another library called fontname which seems to provide the best of both worlds.

I hate to say it, but 8.5 is kicking out my fonts again.

Yeah I guess the other side of that is, if you’re going to make the wordmark you might as well just export the whole darn jersey… so essentially I just torpedoed my own idea!

Not sure if you noticed Eriq, but when I load a .uni it does not load the custom jersey font. The font colors stay the same as whatever jersey I was working on before the load. Also, I noticed that the wordmark font is not restored either. Very minor problems, but thought I would let you know.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well. Loading has always been tricky but hopefully I'll be able to figure out what's happening.

One small but I think important thing is that there's no way to force the wordmark to be overlayed on top of an imported image on a jersey. I noticed that Plain and Skewed wordmarks are always underneath images but arced, arched, angled, etc. wordmarks can be on top if they are produced after the image import. If its not too difficult, I think this is a pretty important thing to add.

That's actually already possible - if the wordmark is the selected object, the plus key brings it to the "front" of the stack and the minus key sends it to the "back."

Admittedly that isn't obvious to the user so I'll add some informational text in the next release.

Oh sweet! Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't see that control documented anywhere.

Also, I think this method does not work on the swash part of the wordmark. The text is always in front of the swash.

Thanks - I forgot about that part, I'll make sure it can be moved around as well.

I just tried it with the wordmark and an image and it didn't seem to work for me. I hit "+" with the wordmark selected and I pressed "-" with the image selected, but no luck. Not sure what's up with it.

Not sure off-hand since it's working for me. I'll verify it's working before releasing the next build.

Version 0.8.6 has been released!

What's New
  • Experimental Optical Character Recognition using Tesseract.js! If you drop an image containing text into the Font tab or click the appropriate button in the Font tab, the app will attempt to pick out characters and place them in the right spots. As of now the items get placed without scaling to fit. Please note that the OCR process is not perfect, and probably never will be, but it does (more or less) work.
  • Added a button to reset the font characters to their default positions and sizes.
  • Added a convenience button allowing users to export the wordmark as a standalone image.
  • Made it obvious that you can change the "stacking" order of images, wordmarks, and swashes on the jersey and also added some more granular controls for changing the stacking order. + and - move items up and down, Shift+ and Shift- will move them all the way to the front and back respectively. Note that there are a lot of objects on that canvas that you can't select but are still part of the stack (think piping) so + and - may not visibly do anything depending on where in the stack things are.
  • Added a nifty transition effect when changing tabs. Doesn't add any functionality but it looks cool.

What's Fixed
  • I think I have all the issues with reloading uniforms worked out now. It's certainly working better than it was before.
