What I use instead is the Recently Scouted Players tab that keeps you informed of changes in players' ratings. If your scouts have updated their evaluation of a player, he'll be on that list. I have it set to just show me that day's updates, and I check it every day. Very quick way to keep track.
Great idea, and why it is a good idea to peruse these boards. Never know when a useful nugget might fall into your lap.

I use my scouting board extensively while getting ready for, and during the draft. After that, unless I'm asking for a report, it barely gets a look.

That will now change. Thanks.

Ditto on the Recently Scouted Players tab. I faithfully check the updates every day.
It is so much more manageable/practical and useful than when we used to get what seemed like 100 updates once a month (just a few versions ago). That was so cumbersome, and it was way too much information to digest in one day of game play.
Now, I check the daily updates and I'm able to process the information (and retain it as much as my aging mind allows) and find it of great use.

Then why have the arrows? Truthfully they are a distraction IMO. It seems there are much more tangible and logical ways to determine if a player should be promoted/demoted.

You've offered many good ideas and suggestions over the years and you clearly are invested in the game and would like to see a number of elements improved. I understand and respect that.....BUT (you had to know that was coming).....I've never understood your penchant for arguing for the elimination of elements of the game that you aren't inclined to use - but others do - simply because they are a 'distraction' for you or shouldn't exist for some other reason as far as you are concerned.
The shop player option quickly comes to mind and now these little green arrows.
Obviously you don't use either so I won't state the obvious and say, "So don't use them" but really, how do either harm your immersion in the game other than to be an alleged 'distraction'?
And, really? A distraction. I have no problem simply ignoring them until, oh, wait a minute, I take over a new team and explore each player in my new organization by ratings, stats, time spent at each level, and those little green arrows.....because that's the way I like to play.

To address the original question without further wading into any debates, arrows call my attention to certain players. The ultimate decision to promote or demote is mine. I like having them, with all of those guys in the minor leagues I like that there something visual to grab my interest in players who might be ready to move up a level. There isn't enough time to pour over the stats and ratings of every player on every team. The arrow simply says, "Hey, check out this guy."

I don't use coaches and I'm not hands on other than the fictional MLB team I manage. The arrows despite limitations help me consider certain players for promotion that I might not see otherwise. No confusion here.

Because he is an arrogant, self centered person. That is just how he is. It really is a waste of time debating with him lol.

He's always "right."

Well, one more thing I will point out, is that we have "relative ratings" which in essence is being able to ask your scout an opinion on a player (not coaches) so, unless people can't read what the ratings are for, then what is the point of the arrows? The arrows seem to very often contradict what relative ratings already do well...which is tell you what level os appropriate for a prospect. Again, I just don't see the need for these arrows. If they were somehow well implemented you might get me to agree...but until then, they are nothing much more than window dressing. (as brought up in the first few posts in this thread...funny how everybody changed their mind when I became the main antagonist...I'll remind people I didn't start this thread)
