So it took me 5 seasons to get a steam achievement (Stanley cup, woop woop, go me). Question being, is the "Hometown Discount" a free agent signing or re-sign only? I traded for Anaheim native Cam York a couple of years back and it didnt unlock.
Also, to "auto-qualify" do I have to hit "ask for a response"? I had two guys this year I was just going to qualify and wait on but one of them just went to free agency so I'm assuming I did one right and one wrong. Tbh, I feel there should just be a "Right Click > Qualify" option. Also this, Getzlaf never played for the Islanders... just a weird one. Especially since the following message is about us retiring his number. |

You can't improve the letter, it's just an assessment of the player's inherent chance of reaching his potential. To improve the chance of him reaching his potential, you need to manage his development circumstances - training, playing time, coaching, etc.

You don't need to make an offer to turn auto-qualify on, just click the button on the negotiation screen. A right-click option isn't a bad idea, I'll see if we can add that easily. The easiest way to verify that it's on is via the Contracts view on the roster screen - it'll show a green "Yes" if he's going to be qualified automatically. The Getzlaf thing is odd, haven't seen that before. Did he maybe have a preseason tryout with them the previous season, but didn't sign? |

Ahhh, poop. Well an OOTP style "search for players from local area" button would be nice for that.
Yeah I think I've messed this up a few times before, it's never blue-chip prospects, mostly unfinished projects in the AHL who I wouldnt get compensation for anyway. Ahhh, yes, I didn't even know. 2 PS games, 2pims, 0 points. Legend. Thanks again Jeff. |

Playing historical. I'm in early October when the Waiver Draft pops up and ask me to decide who I'm protecting. About halfway done naming my protected list but I decide to leave the protection area to explore some trade possibilities (guys I was likely to lose) but now for the life of me I can't find how to go back and finish my waiver draft protection list. Crap.
Try hitting continue to see if it auto pops up again so I can finish picking. Advances to the next day. Crap Decide to exit to to start screen and reload my last save file. Game auto saves and starts up again a day ahead and ready for the waiver draft without giving me a chance to protect the other half of my roster. Total crap. Have I just lost 2 seasons of game time because I can't find how to return to the protect roster for waiver draft screen. This sucks. Any help appreciated |

Clicking the back arrow should get back to it eventually, but there really should be a direct option, I'll see if we can add one to the league or team menu (there's one on the manager home screen, but it's not very obvious.)
In this case, if you go into the save folder, you can copy one of the backup saves from the rs_one or rs_two folders (try the one with the most recent file dates first) over the files in your main folder - that'll revert it back to a previous save time. Jeff, the rs_one / rs_two folder trick worked and I was able to successfully back my game up to the date saved I wanted. Wahoo!
The back arrow doesn't work (usually does) but I think I had played around with trade offers and it likely would have needed about 50 backs to get there. Managed to find the "Protection List" function on the manager home by looking under tasks which was clickable and took me to want I wanted. Your tips saved the day. Huge thanks |

Cannot Generate a schedule
Just bought FHM7 and I started as GM/Coach on July 1, but cannot continue. I keep getting the "There is no schedule for the following teams:..." error???
When I generate a new schedule nothing happens and I get the same "no schedule" error. Yet when I go to Dec there are games scheduled?? HELP. |

Either use the Real Schedule when it starts and don't click July 1st or do the option above. |

I see that you can set the WHA to inactive under edit league in commissioner mode, but not the PCHA.
But my more direct question is; how do you retire the PCHA when its allready in operations in your game? |

I don't believe you can because of how it goes to the Stanley Cup final.

Will International Play in Custom Saves be implemented in FHM8,or in a future update of FHM7?

What are the requirements for a mutual buyout with a player in season, and how do you do it?

It'll appear as a right-click option for the player and on the action button named "Offer Termination." |

Just noticed this in-game today. Awesome addition, thanks. Is there any particular thing in the game that enhances the players nominated for an award? After this level of production (coupled with a Presidents trophy) I figured Rakell would be up for something, but he wasn't nominated for anything. IRL that would probably be considered a bit insulting tbh. Used to bug me in EA games that the Selke was basically always just given to the centre with the best faceoff percentage, so wondering is there something (possibly game rating) that held him back. (let's not mention the 3 games he missed were due to suspension, and they were the last 3 of the season, with him and Guentzel tied on 100 grrrrrrr....) A historical player who never missed significant time in real life should never get injured for 8 months. EVER!
While I agree fragile players will get more injuries, when the study/durable does get injured, he's just as likely to pull a season ending injury as anybody else. Why is that? This has happened to me so many times where a player who never missed more than a handful games throughout their career (and you rate them correctly as usual) gets injured 3, 6, 8 months. I'm fed up with it. This is the big issue as far as I'm concerned. Not the frequency of injuries. I'm not going to turn injuries off as many do because I wouldn't be playing hockey. What would be the point in playing at all? |
