Chad Slusar was called back up to AA Charlotte O's after hitting .286 in 59 games in single A. He'll hit 9th and play LF. |

After leaving August 28th's game with an injury, Chad Slusar was diagnosed with a fractured wrist today. It'll take 4 weeks to recover, so he's likely done for the season. Between 52 games in AA and 59 in A, he hit .263 with 0 HRs, 33 RBI, 12 BBs, and 72 Ks this season. Johnny Stanley was also injured in yesterday's game while throwing his 125th pitch of the day. I'm furious that his rookie manager, Brett Cousins, allowed him to stay in the game that long and chewed him out over the phone last night. We're still waiting on the final diagnosis. Johnny had been doing much better in the month of August with a 2-2 record and a 4.32 record in 6 starts. My only two remaining actively playing clients are Lee Maye and Cody Allen. Maye is still hitting .256, now having played 66 games. He hit 6 RBI in 13 games in August. The Twins had a horrible month and have fallen to 49-84, now last in the division and tied with the Cubs for worst in the league. Cody Allen was moved up from low A to high A and is now with the Charleston Royals. He's racked up 4 saves in 5 appearances with a 1.80 ERA and 6 Ks. |

Johnny Stanley was diagnosed with a strained oblique that will keep him out another 2 weeks. I was honestly expecting worse. He could even be back in time to make another start or two before the season ends. |

I got Jim Qualls a minor league contract with the Orioles. They had him play 1 games in AA, where he went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and a run, and then sent him down to the Bluefield Orioles, a rookie team whose season ended last week. So it looks like he's done for the year, but I'm hoping the Orioles will give him another chance next season. |

Lee Maye played 86 games in his rookie season with the Twins, hitting .280/.312/.436 with 11 HRs, 51 RBI, 7 SB in 10 tries, and 19 runs scored. He was an asset in the outfield as well. His team finished in last place with 104 losses. Mike Dornan healed up nicely and played in the last 2 games with his AA team. He finished the season having played 81 games, all in AA and mostly at DH. He hit .312/.367/.464 with 7 HRs and 47 RBI. Cody Allen had a rough end to the year, with a 7.50 ERA in 7 appearances in September, but his first season as a pro was solid overall. Chad Slusar didn't get to play again, but he's healthy and is ready to start working toward next season. Johnny Stanley healed up and made another 2 starts before the season ended. He didn't pitch well, but I was just happy to see him healthy. In A ball this year he went 5-8 with a 5.47 ERA in 16 starts. Now I watch the playoffs and prepare for the upcoming offseason. |

The Tigers beat the Giants in a 7 game series to win it all. The offseason begins. |

I didn't have any clients in this year's draft. The Cubs took Roger Clemens with the 1st pick. The Twins took Edgar Martinez second. |

The Rule 5 draft today, and Mike Dornan was eligible, but nobody took him. |

I have signed 2 new clients this offseason. Lane Thomas is an 18-year-old who can play 2B, 3B, and CF. He has impressive speed, runs the bases aggressively, and can drop a bunt single occasionally. He projects to be a solid hitter, with some pop, but he doesn't make contact consistently. He's kind of on the bubble for holding down a role in the majors. 17-year-old Kenny Raddatz is a corner outfielder from Florida. He has an ok swing and could be a decent contact hitter, but he isn't a phenom. He has the strength to hit for big-league power and should have an overall good eye. He should develop the ability to contribute to a major league team, but more as a supplement than a star. Both players will enter the next amateur draft in December. |
