By rule, we must leave 3B Bobby Scrogham (25-R) at Daytona (A) for 10 days unless we place a player on the DL in the meantime. Editor's Note: Not enforced in OOTP (yet), but if you do not play with it, you can just stash all of your tired pitchers in the minors and use it as an extended bench... Since there is no one else on the Tortugas we fancy bringing up, we will just let P Tom Betke (25-R) ride the pine.

LHP Larry Domino (SV 4) pitched a scoreless 9th and gave us 1 hit. Fun Fact: Opposing Teams have 10 Saves against us by 10 different pitchers.

2B Leander Gooding hit a double. 1B Ismael Gonzales had 2 hits with his 1st home run of the season. PH Frank Roadman hit a triple, but got caught trying to steal home down 3 runs in the 9th... C Garrett Bender had a hit and a walk and scored a run. 3B Brian Porter had a hit in his only at bat.

For Providence, C Doug Bowers had 3 hits with a double, scored a run and had an RBI.

Weak move, though.

Since the AI doesn't follow it I also don't do the busywork and I'm not religious about it, but I try not to use the AAA team as bench whenever possible.

We are in Richmond to play a 3 game series over the weekend. The Robins just split 4 games here with Syracuse. We opened the season here with a pair of losses, only giving them 4 total runs, but only scoring 1 ourselves. The Robins are tied for 10th in scoring with 3.83 runs per game (Jacksonville is still last with 2.94). They lead the League in SB with 53 and we are tied for 4th with 29. They are 6th in fewest runs allowed with 3.91 per game (Jacksonville is #14 with 4.71). They have only allowed 18 HR, 2 shy of the League leader. We have allowed 34, one shy of the League tailender.... Their run differential is 0 and ours is -62, once again easily the worst in the League. Hartford is 2nd worst at -38.

With one out, it is just stupid... Rob Worms takes a 3-2 pitch for ball 4 to load the bases up with no outs... Andy Schaeffer swings at a 3-2 pitch and beats out an infield hit and a run scores... 5 to 1, Robins. Call to the Bullpen: Roger Wallace (25-R). Joe Roberts (30-L) is in to play right in a double switch. Mike Sammon grounds into a force at home, 5-2. Larry Slattery swings at the first pitch and flies out to left and Worms tags up and beats the throw home. 6 to 1, Robins.

Ed Diskin leads off with a double down the right field line. Leander Gooding grounds a double over the 3rd base bag and Diskin scores. 6 to 2, Robins. The A.I. does not enforce the rule upon itself, but it does not game the rule (or lack of it), either...

Trudy the Trainer has informed us that CF Danny Stewart (30-L) is ready to play again! Do you even remember him? He started the season as our starter in center, but since Joe Roberts is so hot lately, I think we will let Danny edge his way back into the swing of things. P Tom Benke (25-R) was sent back to Daytona (A) to make room on the roster.

Normally, I would send someone pitching as bad as he is to the minors, but who would take his place? The best ERA of any starting pitcher at Daytona (A) right now is 5.21....That is Tom Benke (25-R), who we just sent back there. He has a .349 BA against him and that is the best of anyone in the rotation.... We have put two new pitchers in their rotation, who are low on stamina, but if one of them pitches decently, we will call him up. Otherwise, we will have to hope against hope that someone offers us a starting pitcher in trade.

May 11 - LF Mickey Lynn (28-L) of Buffalo went 5 for 5 with 2 home runs, scored 2 runs and had 4 RBI at home versus Rochester. The Bombers won, 6 to 0. He now leads the League with 13 HR in 36 games, a pace to hit 59.
May 12 - Steve Zeltwanger (25-R) of Indianapolis pitched a 3 hit shutout at Hartford. He walked 2 and struck out 1. At bat, he had a hit. It was his 2nd start of the season. He is now 1-0 with a 1.69 ERA in 2 starts. The Arrows won, 9 to 0.

We are back home to play Orlando a short 2 game set. They won 2 of 3 at home versus Memphis over the weekend. We won 2 games from them here, April 24-25. They are 7th in scoring with 4.32 runs per game (Jacksonville is still last, but now at 3.03!). We are last in walks (89) and they are 2nd to last (95). The Juice are 13th in fewest runs allowed with 4.68 per game (Jacksonville is #14 with 4.79). Their run differential is -13 and ours is -67.

We can call back 3B Bobby Scrogham (25-R) from Daytona (A) now, but he has not hit a lick for the Tortugas, so we will leave him there for seasoning.

The Memphis Mules are here to play a 3 game series over the weekend. They have also had the last two days off and lost a pair of games in Richmond on Monday and Tuesday. They are tied for 6th in scoring with 4.50 runs per game (Jacksonville is still last with 3.08). They are 3rd in HR (40) and we are dead last (13). The Richmond Robins are here to play a short 2 game set. They split 4 games at Orlando over the weekend. We are 1-4 against them on the season and this is their first trip to visit us. They are 8th in scoring with 4.14 runs per game (Jacksonville is now #15 with 3.42!). We are tied with each other for the fewest HR hit (16). Today is RP Barry Finney's 26th birthday!

Yesterday, on our off day, we sent P Spencer Shuff (32-R), SS Junior Danielson (29-R) and CF Frank Wendell (33-R) to Daytona (A). We called up P Sherrell Brown (27-R), 1B/3B Rick Tuttle (34-R) and LF Barry Laskowski (34-R). Brown had a 2.81 ERA in 16 IP for the Tortugas, but did not pitch very well in his only start. Danielson and Wendell were sent down because the Tortugas have a crisis of manpower at short and center and neither one of them are doing much for us. Tuttle and Laskowski are not playing very well, but might be useful against the left-handers that have plagued us, though Laskowski cannot play defense at all.

We are in Buffalo to play the Bombers a 4 game series through the weekend. They just lost a pair of games in Rochester. They have only scored a total of 6 runs in their last 5 games, after leading the League in scoring earlier in the season. They are now 6th in scoring with 4.43 runs per game (Jacksonville is #15 with 3.40). The Bombers are aptly named as they are 2nd in the League in HR with 52. We are now last all alone with 16. They are 13th in fewest runs allowed with 4.59 per game (Jacksonville is #15 with 4.98). We have allowed the 2nd most HR (41), while they have allowed the 3rd most (40). Their run differential is -7 and ours is -71. still behind Hartford (-62) for last in the League.

We opened the season here with a pair of losses, only giving them 4 total runs, but only scoring 1 ourselves. The Robins are tied for 10th in scoring with 3.83 runs per game (Jacksonville is still last with 2.94). They lead the League in SB with 53 and we are tied for 4th with 29. Yesterday, on our off day, we sent P Spencer Shuff (32-R), SS Junior Danielson (29-R) and CF Frank Wendell (33-R) to Daytona (A). We called up P Sherrell Brown (27-R), 1B/3B Rick Tuttle (34-R) and LF Barry Laskowski (34-R). Brown had a 2.81 ERA in 16 IP for the Tortugas, but did not pitch very well in his only start. Danielson and Wendell were sent down because the Tortugas have a crisis of manpower at short and center and neither one of them are doing much for us. Tuttle and Laskowski are not playing very well, but might be useful against the left-handers that have plagued us, though Laskowski cannot play defense at all.
