Just curious: Approximately how many FG's are included for historical minor-leaguers? My assumption would be that the older the year and lower the level, that FG's would be fewer & farther between to where low-level minor-leaguers from the early-20th century would be next to nonexistent... In those cases, what does the game do: Create a generic one, or leave the FG blank for that player?

Creates a fictional one.

Just thought I'd drop in again and give a huge THANK YOU for this pack. I'm manually importing players from throughout history to create a template for an expanded league, and I'm finding faces for some really obscure players.

It took a lot of work to put this together, so thank you to all involved with this project. Your efforts are much appreciated.

Does the pack replace the garish black and white historcal facegens that look like monsters?

Is there an easy way to see which players OOTP couldn't find a fg file for? And if I find a player that OOTP isn't finding a fg file, is there a way to know what it is explicitly looking for? An example would be 1969 Ed Kirkpatrick for the Kansas City Royals. There is a file named 'kirkpa001ed-.fg' but I'm not getting a proper picture for him. I copied it as Ed_Kirkpatrick.fg but that didn't seem to work and I thought that maybe kirkpa001edg.fg might be needed since that is the historical id for him. But I'm still not getting a proper picture for him.

Hi, i'm looking for the 70s outfielder Pat Kelly. All the Pat Kellys that I can find are the white Pat Kellys. Also, i'm not sure I have the right facegen for Jose Morales the 70s pinch hitter

This is a known issue - the batch script or whatever it was for re-naming the files has problems, particularly with players named Jim, Tom, etc. because the historical minors id goes by full name (James, so Jim Smith would be smith-001jam for example) but the batch script just took the first three letters of the display name's first name and first six letters of the last name.

Ed, of course, would certainly qualify for that problem because most Eds are named Edward (or Edgar, in the case of Mr. Kirkpatrick)

You were right that the fg file should be renamed kirkpa001edg.fg to match what is listed on his player editor screen in the Historical Minors field. But after you do that, you also need to hit the "Picture Functions" button and choose "Auto Re-load Picture" (the fifth choice down).

I imported Mr. Kirkpatrick into my sandbox league and renamed the file in the fg_files folder to kirkpa001edg.fg
After I selected Auto Re-load, the facegen changed from the computer generated one to the correct file that looks like his BBRef page.

Let me know if you need screenshots of what I'm talking about or if the directions are sufficient

Similar issue to above. Your Pat Kelly is actually named Harold Patrick Kelly, and his historical minors ID is kelly-har004

There is a file named kelly-har004.fg in the latest download of the pack. I imported him into my sandbox and the facegen is indeed African-American

Coincidentally, Pat Kelly and Ed Kirkpatrick were teammates on the 1969 Royals

Jose Morales, the 1970s player, does appear to be missing. His BBRef minors ID is morale003jos but no file is present, nor is there a moraljo01.fg or even a Jose_Morales.fg or Jose M_Morales.fg

It's possible he got caught up with Jose Morales the Twins catcher and the file was accidentally deleted because it was thought to be a mis-named dupe. Who knows? Regardless, we're missing a Facegen for someone who played parts of 12(!) seasons in the big leagues

Anyway, good catch!

Yes, that's him. And we definitely do need a 70s Jose Morales. Thanks a bunch!

John Dwight Smith, Sr. (smith-005joh.fg) loads up fine for me. His facegen in properly named and looks exactly like the one you have pictured above.

He was one of the players I had identified back in September with mis-named files - are you sure you've downloaded the latest version of the pack (version 1.2)?

What's up with Al Cowens? It looks like a joke. Also, I am looking for Jim Spencer. I'm not sure his current one is correct

Just out of curiosity, how much like their real selves do these facegens look? For instance Ronald Acuna Jr or Fernando Tatis Jr. Asking because I can't find an all-in-one photopack that goes up to the end of 2020...

Judge for yourself:

Hair is a limitation on Facegens, always has been. But the people on here have been really good at making them for years now, and they have the advantage of not being static like pictures. So if a player changes teams, the uniform changes with them.

I used to be Team Photo up until a couple of years ago. So much so that I would download the entire spring training rosters for each team myself and update them with changes as they occured. But in 2016, I realised that Facegens had caught up to photos, and many were extremely realistic. That number continues to grow. Now I'm Team Facegen all the way.

Seems like a dumb question but can you use previous year facegen packs in the next years game? Just got 22, and wasn't sure if I could load the previous years complete facegen pack to have pics for the majority of the people.

What am I doing wrong?

I don't have a folder called "OOTP install. What I have is only 3 folders: Data, Default_Data and Uninstall. The Default data has a facegen folder and I put it in there but when I went to play my historical game (1967) the pictures did not show up. What am I doing wrong please? Thanks, todk

todk, I think you want to put them in the fg_files directory under data, not default data.
