The Colonels won 100 games and a division title. The pitching has improved from the first couple of weeks with a full season from ace Justin Verlander (MLB2020) - my only perfect pull to date - and closer Greg Holland (96 peak legend). The offense was led by 1B Yordan Alvarez (.309, 25HR) and RF Jeff McNeil (.318, 83 RBI). My DH and only other diamond card, 2020 Fernando Tatis Jr., had an off-year but I am confident that he will bounce back next week.

It sure feels different from last year with only 3 cards above 90, but it has been fun. I am still opening a pack a day, sometimes two, while slowly building a bank of points for a pack-spree at some point. I usually end the day with at least 5000pp left over. My haul from bronze tourneys has slowed to a trickle because skill will only take you so far. Cards win tourneys and I have not gone to the auction house to improve my team. I still luck into a prize every few days so it is worth the small effort to enter.

All my free to play teams (Expos (.621), Angels (.528) and Tiger King (.599)) are in playoffs. Good luck to all for your playoff run.

Iron 186 was very top heavy, with the top 4 teams dominating the conference. Pretty crazy for an iron league.

The Marathoners fell 3 games short of the division simply because we couldn't find a way to beat the Manny Mota's Yodas, although it was normally close games. Getting swept by the Etobicoke Leopards in mid-September didn't help the cause at all.

The Marathoners win the Wildcard game 10-3 against the Knoxville Knucklers, which sets up a matchup between the Warbirds and Marathoners.

San Angelo Warbirds finished first and will face the WC winner Mizzou Marathoners. They split the season series with all home games won. The RD of those 6 games told a different story though.
This will be the Warbirds toughest test so far in PT 21(3 seasons) playoffs.

Late Bullpen additions of LH's Billy Wagner (Crazy Good Lefty Specialist), Vida Blue as well as hard throwing RHP's Bob Gibson and J.R. Richard should help.

Erie 'Live" Ghosts and Rockport Rumblefish both made the playoffs and will be promoted. This is Rockports first playoff appearance.

Both teams advance to the Divisional.

That started bad...Expos lost wild card game 6-4 in extra inning. Colon strike out 8 in 5 innings, but the bullpen was bad and lost the game.

The YakAnglers (117-45) win their division in Stone 177 and have the best record in the league by 15 games.

Of course they drop their first playoff game.

B227: Playoff Luck...or Not!

"Hey, JasonC23, how are those Bronze 227 playoffs going? You were the #1 seed with a dominant 122-40 record and you're facing an 88-74 Las Vegas Stars wild card team, so good, right?"

"Well, in game 1, Bert Blyleven struck out 15 Vegas hitters! And Robinson Cano homered!"

"Wow, how much did you win by?"

"...we lost 3-1 because the Stars' Bucky Walters held the rest of the team to 1 measly single."

"Oh. Well, how did game 2 go?"

"Oh, much better." <silence>

"...you got 3 whole hits instead of 2."

"Yep. Lost 6-3."

"So, um...how 'bout those...um...yeah."

As expected, the Marathoners lose to the Warbirds in 4 games. 2 of the games were completely one-sided, as the Warbirds showed their dominance. Macacks probably has a future Perfect League champion in the making. Incredible team.

And for the YakAnglers, they win game 3 but lose to the 92 win Chap LOL Mets in 4 games. This one is frustrating.

Huntley managed to take game 3, but thanks to Lucas Giolito lasting a whole 0.1 innings and giving up 5 runs, Las Vegas takes the series in 4. <sigh>

San Angeles 70s move to the 2nd round to face the juggernaut Herbie Hancocks, to put things into perspective we have one diamond card (Bernie Carbo) they are stacked with Historical Perfects, and we lost the first game by one run, mission impossible got tougher

The Frogs' reign of terror is over. It was surely fun while it lasted, but winning ~145 games and then steamrolling through the 'yoffs is mostly a memory right now. Whale tears...

That's because we only won 137 games this week in I178, but had a tough team in the same division. The Boston Patriots won 123 games and were continually feeding in new players to their team. It was a bruising regular season head-to-head, with the Frogs barely escaping 10-9. So, naturally I was rooting hard for the Patriots' Wild Card opponent. But, twas not to be. The Patriots won comfortably and then really took it to my Frogs, winning the DS in 4 games. There were two 9-8 extra inning games that were split. Then it was domination with them winning G3 and G4 by a combined 12-1 margin.

I don't mind the competition (although destroying worlds these past couple of weeks was nice while it lasted), but it's disappointing that none of my SP rotation (100 Clemens, 99 Maddux, 100 Grove, 98 Brown) showed up for this series. They all gave up at least 5 ER in their one start, and usually in a short outing at that. When your 99 Maddux gives up 6 ER on 12 H and their 99 Maddux goes 8 IP scoreless, it's just not your week!

Congrats to the Pats...it's a very good team that hopefully uses this opportunity to grab a medallion. For us, it's wait til next year (week).

Good luck to those still banging out sims!

Maxfire and his Hidden Valley Bombers put up a huge fight and the Saints advance in 5 games in Stone 107.

Up next, the NLCS again against a Maxfire team. The OL Whale and top team in the league. Should be interested. Hopefully we give no quarter.

Both team lost in finals. Not bad for the Tiger, first rookie season and lost 3-4 with only two gold players. I can invest much more for the next season.

Maxfire has some real good teams but the Saints claim the Stone 107 league World Series.

The Stone League Finals went the distance despite the Magpies jumping out to a 2 games to none lead. The opponent was the Santiago Capitales, the wild card entry from the other conference. Although, they swept the 121-win Charleston Riverdogs in the Division Series, they needed 7 games to defeat the 97-win Grand Forks River Rats. So, no problem, right? A closer look at their roster yielded some unpleasant news: Special Edition cards, Greg Maddux, Duke Snider and Mel Ott and joined the Capitales just in time for the playoffs along with 17 other Special Edition cards already there. Oops... and after losing game 6 at home 11-0, I thought I was done for. Not really--thankfully I was AFK, so saw that ugly fact after the joyous 17-3 triumph in Game 7!

Greg Maddux was named best pitcher over triple crown winner Randy Johnson and Jeff Bagwell was named MVP. 7 of 9 starters won Great Bat.
