The Cardinals have placed left-handed starting pitcher Lewis Thorpe on the 10-day disabled list after he suffered a strained back while making a start in a 7-2 win at Philadelphia on April 2.
Thorpe is expected to miss up to two weeks. Right-handed starting pitcher Luke Weaver has been activated from the disabled list. He will start the opening game of the team's upcoming series against the Cincinnati Reds. |

The Reds opened the season dropping two of three games at home against Washington. This left them in a three-way tie for second in the NL Central with the Brewers and Cubs, a half-game in back of the first-place Cardinals. |

The Cardinals have removed outfielder Jeren Kendall from the disabled list, where he has been since March 25 with a back injury, and sent outfielder Randy Arozarena to AAA Memphis.
Arozarena got into two games this season, batting .429 with an RBI. Kendall, among the Cardinals highest ranked position players in the minors, is expected to see extensive playing time in 2022. |
