I'm sure it was due to Jones getting nailed earlier and the umps over reacting thinking it was Boyd retaliating. Yup, you've lost 4 in row, you're only up 1 in the 5th, perfect time to retaliate....insert sarcasm. Ugh!

When Detroit wants to shut the door, they bring in an old pitcher that throws an 87 mph fast ball and lots of off speed stuff. This may be a problem.

Clevland faces the recently called called up Pelfrey. We'll have to wait until tomorrow to hope for getting back into first place.

And this is what really set Sano off. I don't think I'd like McCann's hands in my face like that either.

10-2, Sanchez comes in, and I thought 'well, this will get interesting after all'.

Have the Tigers considered walking him behind the shed, and then, out of sight, ...?

I've heard some prognosticate that because Sanchez is a starter by nature he just doesn't known how to get his rhythm pitching in relief. He finished spring training on a great note. I hoped he'd have been able to keep it up.

Nah, Sanchez is just done. He was done 2 years ago, he was REALLY done last year (wasn't any good as a starter, had a temporary period of mediocre-ness as a reliever, and then was terrible again), and he's way done this year.

At some point we have to just decide to eat the rest of the money and end all of our miseries. He can't be having any fun at this point either.

I can see that Sanchez really just needs to be let go. The question I have is who is a viable 6th or 7th starter in the minors should one of the starting five go down? Chad Bell, VerHagen, Hardy, Saupold, Farmer? Okay, yeah, all those guys are better than Sanchez.

The rotation depth I guess is probably the only reason to have him around. Question becomes then, can we successfully hide in and only throw him in blow out situations all year, or do we eventually have to get SOME kind of positive innings out of him? Otherwise, yeah you're right the cupboard IS pretty bare if one of the 5 starters goes down or we have a DH.

I'd trust Farmer in a one off spot start. Possibly VerHagen too. Then it's Saupold, Sanchez, and Miles Jaye IMO. I guess if we're just looking for someone to give us 4-5 innings and hopefully not have the game out of reach, may as well go with the guy with some history, making the big bucks, and already on the 25 man.

We REALLY need to get some pitching depth in this organization........

Really starting to think Kyle Ryan thinks he gets paid by the pitch. Not sure how much longer they can trot him out there. Ryan had a decent year last year, but this year it almost looks like he's scared of the strike zone.

Disagree. I think he should pitch against the Indians as much as possible. At least keep him until the next home-and-home with Cleveland.

Ha! Should we trot him out every game too? Maybe 2- 3 innings per game?

Hey, maybe you are on to something. He could be that modern high-leverage non-closer (aka Andrew Miller) that has become so trendy.

P.S. Miller makes like half what Sanchez does....

All trolling aside, Tigers haven't looked too bad. I had pretty low expectations, but they've been OK. I like Verlander, Fulmer, and Boyd anyway. Obviously bullpen still needs some work, but Tigers could be sneaky under the radar good.
