How many MLB teams go out in June looking to accquire a 4th or 5th starter via the trade market and get something worked out? Very few. There just aren't that many trades made in baseball during the season. I've had no problem swaping minor leaguers, which is where a lot of trades in baseball happen. I see the trading as being very realistic. For those gamers that want to overhaul their team every season, have a fantasy draft. For those who want a perfect 5 man rotation and a solid lineup 1-9, its not going to happen. You shouldn't just be able to go out and get whatever you want to fill a hole in your roster. In fact, IMO, you should rarely be able to accomplish that through trading.
Have a good vacation Markus, I look forward to the counter offer feature when you return! |

"We have a great game, and you have done a hell of a job. Do what you will but the bottom line is you owe us nothing." Yes Markus made a GREAT product, and supports it 200% That's why we are all here. Get realistic though We pay money for this great game, and he does *OWE* us to at least have the game working as advertised. That means fixing bugs to make said game work as advertised. He gives us new features, because he is a great guy and wants to improve his product. Thus ensuring that we will be back next year eager to purchase the new OOTP version. To say he owes us nothing is the same crappy thinking some game companies like EA have adopted. Where they make a buggy product every year, like Madden. Then don't support the product and basically tell their customers too bad you already bought it tough ****. So your way of thinking only encourages this type of practice, where companies feel they owe their customers nothing. Hopefully one day people will wake up and EA will regret the day they treated their customers like morons.

I'm sure this can of worms will be opened anyway, so....
Markus doesn't OWE us anything other than the product delivered upon purchasing the game and any patches/updates promised at such time (Spring Training?). Yes, good business practice is to keep your customers satisfied, but he neither morally or legally owes us anything. And certainly not at a date so specific that he cannot take a vacation should he so choose. To say he OWES you something means that you would have some legal right to force him to give you something aside from the game you 1st received. Or at least that he would be morally culpable if he did not deliver something. Obvioulsy neither is true. OWE is a very strong word. I think VACATION trumps it in this case. |

I think the point he was making is that some people are sitting here kissing some guys ass as if he is making this game for free. Markus knows business and he knows that updates and patches keep his customer base happy and coming back for more. If he turns into someone who chooses vacation over the game he will lose customers plain and simple. He doesn't owe anyone here anything, just like people here don't owe it to buy his games.

Back to the trade AI.
I tried to do the same trades I did yesterday and they were all accepted. I have no idea what the difference was (both times were after the patch). Yesterday every trade I tried was rejected. Loading the same career, I tried the exact same trades and they were accepted. Same point in the career, etc. I have no idea what would cause this. Any ideas? |

Anybody notice that all these guys doing the biggest complaining have just registered to the board in the last couple of months? Everyone has the right to express their feelings even if it is the first day you bought it, you paid for the game. I and everyone else who disagrees with your methods have that right as well and, before you say it, my head is too big to fit up anyone's ASS! It may need some tweaking, but Markus, it can wait till you have had a break.

First of all... Marcus take your vacation.
Second, on to the trade AI. I think a suggestion that was brought up quite a while ago in the OOTP 4 suggestion board would really help solve any problems the trade AI has. The suggest was to label the teams with either building, middle of the road, or contending. The team would then trade, aquire FA, and resign players based on this label. For example, a team that needs a bunch of players will not dump a ton of money into one free agent. It needs to build up its minors. I think this would help quite a bit. This is the thread that i got this idea from.. Acutally it is Andy's idea. http://www.400softwarestudios.com/bo...&threadid=5672 |

Markus... take a break. You'll be glad you did in the long run.
To all you impatient souls... chill out a bit, too. Of course everything may not be as you like them. It would be impossible for everybody on the forums at this moment even to have a game exactly 100% to their liking ... heck I'm not even sure it's possible for one person to have it that way unless he was programming yourself. Sometimes I just wonder... |

Rest first!
I would also like to see where if you sign a FA, teams will refuse to trade you anyone for him. Similar to FOF (we refuse to trade for a guy you just signed). If not, I can sign guys like Roger Clemens and then trade them in a package deal for a good player. I know you can just prohibit yourself from doing this, but that simple rule would stomp the temptation. Todd |

I think it's just tough for some people to have something that they don't think is perfect in their hands, but is oh so close... I really didn't think an update was needed, I was really happy with ver 4. But I knew all you jokers would move over here and the game just wouldn't be as much fun without you people. Did some of the complaints get results? It looks like it. Personally, I applaud Markus... he's trying to make people happy, there aren't too many people left in the world who would do that, and it sucks that the rudest people on these boards have kinda given us a bad rep. Do I think the trade AI needed tweaking, yes... but I know it's tough to do and pretty complicated... and I am very happy with the game since patch 5.01 came out. i just think some of us need to realize this is just a game, pop our yellow pills and go back to our jobs, wives, girlfriends, and school and relax. Give Markus time, and stop all the damn accusing.... in the history of gaming has anyone gotten a patch in 5 days? C'mon. Relax, enjoy the game and go about your lives.
