Belle is the worst person in baseball? really? Ugueth Urbina was charged for attempted murder.

And Albert Belle once tried to run over some kids in his SUV. Given all the rest of the bad things he did, Albert still wins.

Although I have to admit that Barry Bonds is a very, very bad person and might even be worse than Albert Belle.

Oh. Julio Machado, Ex-Brewers Pitcher Convicted of a 1991 Murder in Venezuela

Not a very prominent news story, though. Odd that you would think of it.

The Cobb read was good. I am of the belief that there is a middle ground to the story of Ty Cobb. A good historian will promote a thesis and show facts that support his/her thesis and also show other "facts" that can be disproved.
Also, on the racism part of any player pre-1970, a lot of players grew up in the south or in an environment where being a racism was socially acceptable. If some people say Ty hated blacks (African Americans to use the parlance of our time) then so did most of Ty's white neighbors growing up and more than likely a bunch of his team mates and fellow ball players.
As for Albert Belle, I would say he is up there from everything I have read. Ted Williams was also known to have clubhouse issues, but warmed up as he matured.

Belle had a temper, but what did Bonds do to make him the worst?

Lie, cheat and then steal the record Hank Aaron earned honestly.

Unless your criteria for hatred is the color of their skin.

In the comments under the video they say that he was plunked in the next at bat and that started a brawl. But no actions from the officials?

There is zero racism here on my part. Machado shot a woman in a road rage incident - accounts say that the windows of the car she was in were too heavily tinted to see through clearly. It was an isolated incident, and even HOFer and legend Bob Gibson has had road rage incidents. So it's a one-off that was likely accidental vs. a lifetime of advanced jerkitude. Easy call.

I see both sides. Murder (and other bad stuff) is in a class by itself. However, when I started this thread, I was basically talking about "jerkitude" (nice - it should be a word, red squiggle underline regardless) so Wolf is right.

Hank didn't even show up in person to congratulated him for the "record*" he broke. Was a video message. Many firsthand accounts at that time tell how Hank was upset and be bad every right to be. Bonds is a cheater, him Sosa and McGuire made the beloved baseball numbers into a joke. They almost killed baseball for me
