Tyler Collins: I do not advise flipping off the fans as a means to secure a long term job in baseball. Better still, don't do it and say "[screw] everybody here. [screw] em."

![]() Another great outing from a "induce contact and get outs" perspective. Though there definitely were a few loud outs. But they all look like weak grounders in the box score. |

Should the Tigers have the guy on the roster named Upton DNA tested to make sure they signed Justin and not his awful brother Melvin?

Thoughts from the armchair today:
- 6/7 is nice even if it's during a nuns and orphans tour - The pen is really looking solid - Rodriguez still scares me - Pelfrey is not the answer to any question

Looks like the Indians are going to own us this year. Ugh!

This might be the first time since Mike Maroth. Don't worry, we can still lose this season series...
![]() Fulmer looks decent. Like the slidey/splitty pitch (I guess it's a slider with good downward movement). Fastball is a little too straight, needs a third pitch, typical new pitcher things. Be nice to see him stick around as opposed to Greene/Pelfrey type options. I'm also glad they started him and not Zimm

Soooooo, who thinks Brad Ausmus doesn't make it through the year?

If Pelfrey is still in Detroit tomorrow morning and Verlander can't find himself, Ausmus won't make it. Agreed that it isn't fair but that's what happens.
In the irony department, he has a decent bullpen this year.

Not completely Ausmus' fault for sure but you do have to realize that after beating a dead horse for a while maybe you need to try something different. Personally I think this team just isn't built for consistency especially with all the aging veterans we depend soo much on for victories.
I'm no baseball genius but can somebody tell me why Iglesias is batting 9th in the order? The guy has consistently had a high average, works the count, has speed and can bunt. Or is that my Cuban prejudice rendering me blind? |

My guess is that they view Iglesias as a second lead off hitter and want him to spark the lineup as it turns over

Um. No.
![]() Won't claim that Verlander (or anybody) was awesome today, but the Tigers' constantly, comically inept bullpen is out again.

That was a very nice outing by Verlander, too bad that the ghost of bullpens past returned.
Even more than the bullpen meltdown, I was not happy with that undisciplined at bat by Castellanos in the third. Perez was on the ropes and ready to open up like a sardine can but free swinging Castellanos bailed him right out.

I have been a Tigers fanatic since 1972. Why must I bear this cross.

Phil Coke pitched for the Yankees tonight. I just thought you should know.

Norris called up, Collins optioned.
Apparently, he is going to just be used in the pen. I can't imagine that giving him Pelfrey's spot could be a downgrade. I guess that's why I'm not in charge.

They continue to find ways to lose. Moya had a couple hits. Would love to see him explode on to the scene.
