Some of the ethnic mash-up names are a hoot, too. There's a stud pitcher in my league named Tyrone bin Sulaiman. He's a white guy and he was born in Shreveport.

Haha, this isn't the dumb name thread but... I just saw that the LA Dons' ace pitcher is Jude Arms

Anyway, I've been meaning to add a new suggestion in this thread. Not long ago I got a custom schedule for my league, and it's really, really made a great difference for my immersion. The league has 8 divisions, geographically organized, so it's helped a ton to be playing most of my games in-division rather than random cities scattered all over the US. If there's any kind of scheduling quirk in your world I highly recommend making (or begging for) a custom schedule to support it.
