Transactions:
Indianapolis has signed SP Jeff Samardzija to a minor league contract. Samardzija went 1-5 with an 8.25 ERA for Houston last year, but is a former All Star that hopes to turn his luck around with the Lumberjacks.

Brandon Maurer became the first Lumberjacks pitcher to double digit wins, as he shut out the Reds over 6.2 innings. Every Lumberjack starter recieved one hit, with the exception of Chris Davis, who had two, including his 27th home run of the season.

Indianapolis outhit the Pirates 9-6, but could only score once, which wasn't enough to win the game. In a rare start catcher Jett Bandy had a big day, going 3-3 and raising his batting average to .329 on the year.

The Lumberjacks outhit the Pirates once again, and this time they were able to win the game. Indianapolis had 17 hits, as four different batters recorded at least 3 base hits. Doug Fister had a poor outing, but the bullpen backed him up by allowing just 1 run in 6.1 innings.

Pirates starter Tyler Glasnow went the distance, but his team couldn't win despite his efforts. Chris Davis' 2 run shot in the 4th inning game Indianapolis a lead that they wouldn't let go, as Erik Johnson pitched well in his 10th win of the season.

September 18th:

LP: Tyler Thornburg (8-14, 3.17)

Gerrit Cole helped Pittsburgh even the series, as he shut the Lumberjacks out for 8 innings. Tyler Thornburg was once again a victim of lacking run support, as he fell to 8-14 despite having a great season.
