Klew, two things I did to keep my interest. Here they are:
1) Started playing as the Ham Fighters in the Japanese League. 2) Tried playing the Moneyball approach. I am the GM of the Cubs and my owner is generous. I try to get ride of expensive players, replace them with 5 star, cheaper talent, and juggle fan interest. It is a lot of fun trying to do this with a self imposed budget. Glad to see you didn't leave us for too long.

Got you mixed up with two different people.
You aren't related to KLEW1987 are you?

Wow! A long time since I heard "The Link" talked about. That guy got crucified on the old High Heat board. He had to wear asbestos clothes because of all the flames. It wasn't Klew though it was a guy called SimplyMatt and then a year later some guy using the handle mbodenheimer (Matt with a different name?) came on the OOTP boards and tried to revive it for a little while then disappeared never to be heard from again.
Edit: for those that don't know this was back in 2001-2002 and the link was going to play the statistical game in OOTP and translate graphically to High Heat so you would have a more statistically accurate game than High Heat by itself. Last edited by DCG12; 06-11-2012 at 04:46 PM. |

Thanks, JT! If I do, you'll be the first to know!

Right now I'm managing the Myrtle Beach team in the NAB quickstart I found off here, and it's pretty interesting trying to generate wins with an offense centered around two REALLY FAST #1/#2 hitters who seemingly generate the teams' only runs by stealing bases. Other than that, the game -- for better or worse -- is largely the same that it's been for years and years. I'll probably become more interested when the baseball card feature becomes more mature (probably third party apps for using it will be necessary) and Markus decides to go out on a limb by implementing animations (even if the hitters look like RBI Baseball which would be more than fine by me) into the game. So, again, I appreciate the OP not trashing the game in the process of saying that he's done with it. Like everyone with a crutch (nicest way I can put it), one sip ain't enough.

Just an update guys! I'm in 2012 of my fictional game. I simmed from 1970-1990 and then deleted the history of league and player service time. Then I simmed from 1990-2011 and took over one of the worst teams. The team I took over (Cedar Rapids) hasn't had a .500 or better season since 2003.

When I do take breaks from OOTP, I'll play some Baseball Mogul 13, DDS Pro Basketball 3, or some FOF 2007. Maybe even turn on the x360 and get some Dragon's Dogma gaming time.
It's funny, but my peak playing time is right after a patch is released.

Well, normally I don't hijack others' threads, but since the OP reneged on his initial retirement from OOTP, I'll just throw this out there. I just went ahead and simmed to the end of the season in my NABA quick start. The owners wanted me to produce a .500 team, but there's no way in hades that was going to happen with the Myrtle Beach Ducks being the 10th best batting average team (after about 35 games) and having the fourth worst ERA. I lost SO many games by a run. At one point I was within four games of .500, but then proceeded to drop back to ten games under .500 and fell back into last place in the division. It was a lost cause. This effectively leaves me with nothing to do now in OOTP. That was pure torture.
