Yeah, I never hire a manager anymore because it's ridiculous to have two guys getting credit for the W's. So it's kind of a burn I can't hire anyone IRL

It'll be in ther for a later patch. I put a reminder in our PT for him so he don't forget.

Hopefully like others said we can still "tweak" the rotations and lineups, etc. I just don't want the credit, but I still like being able to move around some things. Basically, as re-iterated, like Billy Beane in Moneyball

Ideally, manager/GM interaction could be added to storylines, like what's going on with the Bobby V thing in Boston. And if you, as GM, doesn't like what's going on with your manager, you can engage him and discuss it...or he could not like players you bring in, or want players from AAA, etc. It could open the game up in a big way.
But, that's for OOTP14. ; ) |

Will bench coach, minor league records and histories be deleted or separated from major league records?

I think it would be cool to have a filter on the coach history screen to show All or just Majors, Minors, College, etc. Kinda like what is on the player stats pages.

Why not? The new complete histories tell you what the coach did for a job each year...not just manager records. It's pretty sweet!

I wouldn't want their record as a bench coach tallied in their career totals as a manger. Having them listed as a bench coach in the history doesn't bother me.

Ah, that would be the same for any of the histories. It shows the team's stats no matter what job he had, but you're right, the manager totals should just be for when he was manager.

Would be fun to break it to the field manager that he is not the boss, and that I am in fact the one in charge. I already often set guys roles via the team strategy screen. I do not want to field manage. In fact I have only managed in the game a few times. Probably only need one hand to count how many times. I just do not see the point. I like to play the game as a GM, and GM only, however there are times when I need to tell the field manager to run the club in the way I designed it to be run when I built the thing. And it works out well for me.

If you start your career as a minor league manager the GM makes the decisions. If you start in MLB the GM is not a choice for making decisions. This should be an easy fix. Fire your manager and them let the GM make the decision of contracts and trades. THEN you will see what it is like to have a Hunter Pence taken away from you.
When you start a new game just have a prompt that asks: Fire current manager and play in manager only mode? Then you have no input on what the owner and GM do. When the cheap bastard trades away all your talent then we can see what you can do. |

If you start unemployed and go into commissioner mode, when choosing a job at the MLB level you only get the choice of "apply as GM". There should be a choice of "apply as manager" and then you work for the GM. All the minor league jobs have "apply as manager".
The best example of this is Draft Day Sports Pro Basketball. They have a global and local mode. If you choose local you are the coach manager only. If you choose the other you can do both. This should be added. Also if you are a GM only and you do a great job you should get job offers from other teams. Last edited by Faaip De Oiad; 04-12-2012 at 10:16 AM. |

This would take ootp to whole new level. It might even make it challenging.

Yeah, I'm hoping for this as well and, frankly, I don't really care what form it takes just so the manager of the year award gets assigned to the appropriate role.

Add me to the growing list of people who list this as their number one priority for a patch.
I have been puzzled for years as to why the game won't let me play as purely a GM. In the meantime, while we wait and hope, can anyone offer advice as how to set up a game to come CLOSEST to this goal with what we have now?
