Starting in 1900 with modern stats is possible too. Set the league totals to 2011, then hit the "calculate modifiers" button. That's it. |

If OOTP can pull this off and make it successful, this is one of the best selling points for the game in YEARS.
Honestly I have been working in Access getting ready to conjure up a DB that would do essentially what you're explaining Markus, but this saves me a boatload of work. The only other idea that my friends and I had (just for fun) - every owner could pick a team (1942 Yankees, 1908 Cubs, etc.). We were going to create a DB that set up the league with each owner having "their team" and then randomize the whole rest of the DB, future drafts, etc......Of course none of the players from the original owners teams would be available again in future drafts...... |

This looks like a great feature. What I'd like to see added, if at all possible, is a beginning and ending date for players. For example, suppose someone wanted a random association of players from the deadball era? Or the fifties? Or whatever?

Random Debuts into Feeders?
Will it be possible to get random debuts into feeders? So historical players getting randomly assigned to feeder leagues, compile stats, than be eligible for the draft when they "graduate"?

So you just pick a year to start and then from there on out all the players from then until 2012 will randomly show up? Then when they are all picked, fictional players come in?

Here's what I mean... Robin Yount, Ryan Braun and Tommie Harper all show up in the inaugural draft. We edit the league structure, clear the history, does this clear the database's memory allowing those players to show up (randomly of course) later throughout the course of the league? BTW Markus...Thank you thank you thank you. You've made me incredibly happy. (You may have pissed off my wife cuz I'm going to ignore her for long periods of time, but you've made ME very happy)

Let's say (just for example) you got Braun's years in the Database Braun 2010 Braun 2011 Braun 2012 In the new DB it'd pick a random year for him to debut (let's say 1912 for example) Braun 1912 Braun 1913 Braun 1914 It basically would just recode the player's years......Markus has said it will be random debut years, and I am assuming he's carrying over the entire career of the player in the DB like I've shown. You can actually do this in OOTP11 and OOTP12 already, but you have to go in manually and do it (or via MS Access) Last edited by WillieMaysHayes; 03-27-2012 at 09:41 PM. |

I have a question could you have the same player twice in the same draft just with a different year? like Tommy Herr as a 30 year old and also Tommy Herr as a 24 year old in the same draft pool?

I could be wrong, so someone correct me if I am, but the way I understand it is the first year of your league for our inaugural draft you will get random players at random points in their career. Every draft after that you will be getting them as if they were any other 18 or 22 year old kid. So there would be no possiability of the same player but different ages. You can't have a 30 28 and 22 year old Krik Gibson on your team you can just have Kirk Gibson.

I hope this is true. I don't want a league with 8 Darrell Porters and 5 Onix Concepcions. |
