Gotcha, so it's not "ruining" leagues, it's just forcing people to take an extra step while waiting for the patch.

I mean if the commish can edit it back in the mean time, then no biggy. If the commish couldn't edit it, then I can see the issue.

Thanks Alan!

If Andreas is in charge of the online league portion he's been on vacation for the past 6 versions of the game.

Its a little more difficult than it sounds. First you have to have a way to see the old scouting for each team so you know what to adjust it to. Second, once the budgets start to get screwed up you cant always put it back to where it was based on the teams "New" financial situation.

I tried to do it manually for a couple sims, there were atleast 2 teams on each import that could not have the same scouting because their budgets changed.

Hey Marines

My understand is you can only set your scout budget at a certain time, correct? So as of that moment couldn't every GM email the Commish to say "this is how my budget should be"

Then until the patch comes out, the Commish goes to every team on days he does anything with the league file and edits their budget after import.

Would that not work? I understand it'd be tedious... but if its done daily no matter what, wouldn't it work? At least until the patch comes out... ?

Another question is for new leagues, lets say human owners come in AFTER the budgets are set. Do they still get messed up or is it only when humans set them and then import then?

Thats not a bad idea with the email part, atleast you would have a way to know what they wanted each sim. For the human part, I dont think it would be affected because you would not be recieving an export from them.

Right I mean if you as commish know from Day 1 what the budget is, then you're golden until the patch comes out.

Its reasons like these that 2 long term, large size online leagues I'm a part of have opted to stop upgrading all together at this point. For the most part these are online players who have been using OOTP for close to 10 years. 60 owners who will no longer upgrade to every new version. Both leagues have stayed at v11 and we are all jumping for joy that we didn't make the move to v12. Now 60 owners may not seem like a big deal to everyone here, but we are making ourselves heard the only way we can apparently, with our wallets.

Online leagues have always been something of a red headed step child on these boards. I'm not surprised that is still the case.

Millsy: I don't really get that to be honest. To me, playing offline is boring. Why play the AI when I can compete against 20+ capable and competitive humans? No brainer

I totally agree. Which is why it continues to be so frustrating from those of us who play exclusively online when that aspect of the game keeps coming up short.

Honestly the fact people don't use OOTP for online play baffles me.

Huh? That is not the case at all. We care a lot about online leagues. In fact, Andreas is spending 95% of his coding time on the online league part of OOTP!

What is the "wrong country bug"? ... I'm not aware of any problems since the last patch.

the wrong country bug is the one where after importing a league from 11 into 12 quiting the game the reloading the import league all canadian states show up as from another country. It was stated as being fixed by Andreas in the last patch but i tested as soon as the patch came out and still had the same problem. This happens with every league i've imported into 12 , custom leagues as well as the quickstarts included with the game, all when imported and reloaded have canadian states show up messed up or another country making it harder to pinpoint the problem.

I could play on-line, if the rest of the league didn't mind waiting anywhere from 1 week to 2 months for me to get on-line. Some of us aren't home much and don't always have access to the internet.

I can help with your bafflement. Some people don't have a lifestyle exactly like yours.
