Yeah man... I love OOTP and all but the patches this year have been a little 'unorganized'. I'll say this though, the team has done their best and that's all you can ask for from game designers and customer service. I have faith in them that they'll keep trying to fix the problems and hope to get it 'perfect' like we all know they can.

Gambo, the original photos are NOT read only and the problem is NOT just with photos that are first_name last_name, the photos that are player_xxx also are not working properly---as far as deleting all the photo names there are thousands of them and if there isn't a better solution than that this will just have to written off as a bad experience (after 11 years of buying this product) and the game retired to the garbage bin. Bought the game to play it not spend hours fixing it esp. when it was working fine when purchased !

Bad advice as it turns out. Don't try reverting back to a previous version. It looks like something in the database structure may have changed.

Uninstalling will not cause you to lose your saved games and there's no need to activate again either.

Is 11.1.8 a newer version than 11.2.17? That's an older version isn't it?

Ok, I just installed version 11.2.17 to my fictional saved game, without ever installing version 11.2.15. My pictures are showing up ok, but now on the picture menu, I can no longer assign beards or mustaches. Whats the work around to get those options back? (Though it would be great if the developers could do it for us in a patch. I'd ideally like to be playing the game than researching workarounds.)

I guess this isn't as bad as it could be. Being able to assign beards and mustaches was a neat feature, but when it comes down to it, I can live without it. It will be harder to live without being able to assign ethnicity to the photos, as some are really out of place, like Bob Smith having a facegen picture of an oriental look. Nice to be able to fix those. But it's more important that the game play works good to me. So, though it would be great to get those options back, I guess the worlds not coming to an end.

Now if the game starts messing up earned and unearned runs, then that's another story. Oh....wait......

Regardless, I shouldn't have to do any sort of work around to get the menu back - especially if it involves creating new pictures for players I've been following in a league originally created using OOTP 2006. Surely this is something that should be automatically fixed by a patch.

You don't have to create new pictures your current ones will work just fine and also have all of the menu options back if you are willing to spend ~5 minutes to do the workaround.....

1. go to team menu and select the first team
2. open the uniform screen
3. use the update player option (not sure of the exact name of the optios) the faces will update in a few seconds
4. back to step 1 and select the next team, you will already be on the page that lets you select the uniforms\logos
5. rinse and repeat

your current player faces will update, the face will stay the same, the pose may change

your current players will now have all of the menu choices.

you needn't do this for your minor league teams unless you are very particular. They will update, with menu options, the first time they get promoted or demoted. Anytime a player gets a uniform update, ie switches teams he will then also get the full options menu.

My current league started in version 4. Added facegen pictures the year they became available. Used the workaround I described here, and all of my players retained the same face while the hair\ethnicity menu issue was fixed.

Not an ideal situation and I believe Andreas will get this sorted out by the next patch. But really many here are overreacting, the sky is not falling. In the time it takes to come here and post one could almost be done updating a full MLB setup.

Just posted it in my reply to georgehounddog. You don't need to go without having the menu options. Approx a 5 minute job to fix for a MLB setup (speed dependent on one's rig).

I tried what you posted above earlier, and it didn't work. Just to be sure, I tried it again, and it still didn't bring those menu options back for me. I was hoping that would work after I patched, but nope.

Thanks for saving me the trouble. I may just cease playing for a while until the next patch comes out. I'll be anxious though because I'm just about to start my first post-season in OOTP-11.

This issue is still rearing it's ugly head and has been all year long. It is an absolute gamebreaker for folks like Bristolduke, myself and anyone else that enjoys modifying their Master.csv files to customize the game the way they want it. I can do it in OOTPX, so why after four patches can I not do it in OOTP11? 120 errors combined by two teams in one 1954 game because nobody can catch the damn ball is not cool. Removing the .odb database results in worse fielding than drunken beer league baseball games, and that's without touching the Master.csv file at all. Of course if you wish to modify that .odb database must go, so you can see the dilemma. I have added a comment to my original support ticket and am really hoping this is dealt with by the final patch. I will not buy OOTP12 if I haven't been able to play 11 the way I want to by the time spring rolls around or whenever the hype machine gets gearing up for 12. For now it's back to OOTPX, while the shiny new car that is OOTP11 sits in the driveway and I can't use it. I understand there are many bugs that still need attention and take priority over mine, but that doesn't reduce the disappointment. Not impressed at all.

You know you could try it with just one team, which would take about 10 seconds, to be sure it doesn't work for you. Never know, it has worked for many of us.

I wonder what is different about your league? FWIW mine is an imported version 10 league that had player pics that were 100% face-gen, in game created.

Wonder if it makes a difference if you have a mix of photos and face-gen or have put custom made face-gen pics into your league? Either way I hope they get a fix to you guys.

I agree with you that not being able to change ethnicity is the biggest problem with the current issue. I play out all of my games and every time I see a mismatched name\facegen I make certain to correct it as soon as the game is over.

I'm not sure what is going on. I've been messing with this all day pretty much. (Shows you the life I live.

) Anyway, after doing what you suggested, just a few players now have those old options on the picture menu, and I mean "just a few." (Maybe 4 that I've been able to find on the first 5 teams.) I'm not going to go through all the teams as it's pointless really.

My league is a pure fictional one with all fictional facegen images. It was NOT a league I imported.
