I'd say it's gotta be either Michael Jackson or Janet Jackson...

Cephas,

I "Updated" the 1st post to show what's going but we are still getting contributions and new members every day. The focus for the past couple of weeks has been the current players but since that is pretty much done we will be turning our focus back to the historical guys.

Many of our biggest contributors are taking a well deserved break after the flurry of activity that got us to this point.

We anticipate as people start historical based leagues when 11 is released they will be looking to the site for Face Gens for their team's players and will be offering up new contributions they have done for their own leagues.

Overall, i'm very happy with the progress and am bracing myself for the next wave of stuff when the game is released.

This thread has me wondering:

Will any of the old Mods, in particularly Templates & Databases, work with the new version of the game ?

They all will! There are no changes to the basic structure. Basically what this change does is give the user the ability to determine what the in game face gens will look like. Instead of randomly created by the game you can, if you wish, have a specific appearance for your players and staff.

Databases are a little different story. (If your talking the player databases) will need to updated as Lahman changed their format. Spritze and I are combining efforts and are almost done with a database for 11. Templates will also be fine.

BTW, the game will use actual photos automatically if you choose or fill in gaps left by FaceGens.

I think this is a wonderful project and I've been downloading as many faces as I can get. I have no plans to play a historical league, but am quite happy that I can have some very unique faces to add to my fictional league.

Okay, what about hair and facial hair? Do the folks coordinating this project have access to the full functionality to add these correctly? Wouldn't that take an enormous amount of time? Obviously allowing random hair and facial hair would defeat the entire purpose.

Whatever facial hair a guy has in the picture being used to make the FG is on the FG model. Hair is not created because there needs to be special models created for that, which has not been done by anyone from OOTP Developments.

So has someone else developed hair models?

From what I have read they don't want facial hair on the facegen images because the game will add it or take it away during a player's career just as it does with fictional players. It's the same reason the don't want facegen images with smiles. The game will create those as well and having a facegen image with a smile already there will produce multiple sets of teeth.

The facial hair thing is a bit of a problem with players who were well known for their long time mustaches and/or beards, players like Bill Buckner and Rollie Fingers. Creating a facegen image for those players without the facial hair included pretty much destroys them being recognizable.

I think you could create them with their facial hair and then set the to no facial hair in game. I thought you could set that at an individual level?

We prefer that the face gens do not have facial hair for guys who did play a good part of their career without facial hair. A couple of clicks of the mouse can add them to the player in game. Bobblehead has a collection of mustaches past what is included in the game.

As for hair models. The guys wear a hat in the game so excpt for the occasional Hrabosky or Ramirez it does not make much of a difference. The game does not do hair, except facial, but who knows what may be developed later.

facial hair will (for the most part) look fine. It's embedded into the fg, along with the face texture from what ever photo is used. Hair is another story of course. but as gambo said, it wont really matter for 95 percent of the players.
