It makes me wonder what the hell JP the idiot was demanding back in July if the phils were willing to trade Drabek, Taylor, and D'Arnaud.

On a side not D'Arnaud becomes a stud in OTTP 9
What financial flexibility? If they didn't trade Lee but instead let him walk at the end of the season, it only would have cost them another $9 million. That's not going to make the difference in re-signing Howard or Werth.

Not direct financial flexibility in the short term but if they would have kept lee they would probably have besides brown close to zero prospects who are close to mlb ready now. In the next couple years when Rollins, Hamels, Blanton, Victorino, and some others leave they'll need to be replaced and keeping Lee and getting two draft picks who won't be ready for close to 4+ years isn't the answer. By at least giving them a chance to have some guys who can step in there it allows them the ability to focus on putting their money on Howard and Werth and not having to invest it elsewhere and lose one or both of them.

That would make sense if any of the prospects they acquired were potential replacements for any of those guys in the next couple of years. They're not. Gillies is probably three years away from being major-league ready -- he's only 21 and hasn't played higher than A ball yet. The same goes for Ramirez. The only one of the three who has a chance of playing in the majors in the next three years is Aumont, and he's a relief pitcher.

I thought Roy definitely did a better job than Lee today. Thoughts?

He will all season. I don't know why people were trying to act like Halladay isn't absolutely ridiculous before... Phillies fans will soon understand what they have.

Lee will get traded again before the deadline this year. Write it down.

As a Red Sox fan, and despite not having the numbers in front of me, I am happy to see Halladay move out of the AL East!

For hopefully the last time this year, I have to agree with a Red Sox fan

Halladay is going to win 30 games this year. No joke.

The scariest thing about him, it doesn't even look like he's trying out there half the time. I'm not saying he's the best i've ever seen, but I don't think I've seen a pitcher who makes it look as automatic and effortless as he has so far this season.
