Seems it's GAME OVER

Andreas who programmed this game himself could not sort out some of the things in the game. So i don't think a guy who works for free and is no where near as skilled as Andreas is going to do it from scratch. Anyway, i cant see in this day and age with money being tight a guy working for nothing. If he had any time to spare he would be more inclined to get himself a little part time job to help out pay his expenses. Your grasping at straws guys and it aint going to happen. It seems Andreas needs to work full time on the money making game and as they cant afford another programmer, and i do understand this and why.The reality is if Andreas does not do the Title Bout games its over. Going back to some of my old posts you will find i did warn this was likely to happen so i for one am not surprised.

Sad but likely true Danny. I suppose the only glimmer of hope is that Andreas has some flesh in this and probably needs (rather than just wants) to make another version work.

You wouldn't want to learn C++ coding as a retirement hobby would you?

It's over....Forget it. Within 10 yrs someone will come around with some money, time, and some balls, then we we get a new boxing sim. My apologies to the fan boys. I'm 30 so I can still look forward to it. Some of us, not so much. What can I say?

My point about the multiple career stages was that as far as I know, the general Title Bout community was not looking for that aspect to be added. There was a career stage and aging process in place. Considering that the programmer's time was so precious, it would have been better utilized working on options that might have attracted the fans of career building/role playing. Multiple Career Stages obviously didn't work.

Andreas has a built in focus group upstairs that might help him discover what would attract non-users to purchase Title Bout. There might be life in Title Bout yet.

Chris

The final product was workable yes but I feel it could have been a lot better. I used to email Jim a lot at the time asking him what the latest position was and I got the impression that the programmer lost interest halfway through and had to be cajoled into finishing off the product.

Just wro...er...read a comment on the Eastside Boxing Forum that refers to Title Bout predicting the outcome of the Klitschko-Arreola fight.

It just struck me. Considering the recent popularity in Europe of the Sweet Science, it might be that the only thing holding back sales, is the language barrier. Or does the present version come with German, Russian and French text? I can't recall.

Thats a good point Cap. If not they should offer it in other languages. Maybe that will boost sales and then Andreas can justify patching the current version or working on version 3.

I think a lot of the people in Europe speak English as good as we do over here!

Today I was reading one guy's comments in another sports game forum. He was saying how he had recently played TB and it was almost exactly the same as the old Lance Hafner game! No idea which version of Title Bout he had tried. But this is what we're up against. No career mode (again, whatever that means) means no sale to some gamers. It's almost Catch-22. Andreas won't work on a role play because no one is buying Title Bout, and many won't buy Title Bout because it has no role play.

From what little I'm reading so far, it seems like people aren't buying Title Bout for one of two main reasons. Either they don't like boxing or they don't like a boxing game that won't run some kind of career for them. Someone like another Mike Tyson would draw in a lot of the former faction. Does anyone here see a future superstar coming out of the amatoors?

Youse is almost right, der.

I just checked my 2.5 and it has only English and German in the language options. Wasn't there talk of a Spanish option? I'd throw in a Russian one too, and maybe French. Problem with Russian is I think they use a different alphabet.

It’s a damn shame where TB has ended up. If we read between the lines, it would seem that there will be no more development for Title Bout. So - desperate times call for desperate measures...

Perhaps we could all pass the hat around and see what sort of coin we could amass to encourage some after hours programming from Andreas?

The way I see it, if we all put $15 each into the pot as a speculative gesture, perhaps we could pay for some programming time? If there are 100 of us willing to donate a bit that’s $1500 - surely that would buy us some hours?

What do you think?

What is it worth to you Andreas to get back on the keyboard for a few nights per week to produce a patch?

Better yet, what is it worth to you to develop an RP module for TB? It doesn't have to be an excessive work of art; just a functional component that auto schedules and tracks a few variables?

If we look at today’s games market, micro transactions are the way forward for quick revenue raising. Is it possible to enact this process in some way to make it worth while for you to do a phoenix on TB?

I am willing to invest into TB as i am sure others are too, what we need to know is, what would it take for you to get back in the chair and do some coding?

I actually think it is more of a time issue for Andreas. He was basically coding TB himself for free when time permitted, but now with OOTP basically beginning development of the next version immedicately after the latest release is patched he is right back to work on it. Of course money still plays into it since OOTP is the money maker, but again, if he wasn't programming 8-10 hours a day on the Baseball, he would be spending a few hours a week on TB.

I know he didn't plan it like this and he bought the rights because he loves the game, unfortunately the next year won't bring us anything new.

I am retiring from Coaching after this Football season ends so I will only have my "day" job then. Maybe as a hobby I will learn C ++ in my free time.

If Andreas has no free time to work on a money-pit like Title Bout, then the smart thing for him to do would be to shop it around at conventions or wherever guys like him get together to "network". Maybe some nebbish programmer will take the bait and try to market the thing. Otherwise, it sure sounds like it's Adios Amigos! Title Bout in its various incarnations had a nice run. All things come to an end sooner or later. With the unbelievable advances in game technology going on every day, how many potential buyers are there for a text-based niche sport game like Title Bout? Fifty? A hundred? It's over, guys.

Title Bout has come and gone like Christopher Lee in the old Hammer Dracula films since it's morphed from the box game to a PC game. Right now, as long as it's compatible with then new Windows 7 that'll be hitting the market... that buys some time.

If someone stakes it and it turns to dust... look for another version to appear sooner or later.

Right now, though, it's being marketed in a few new places.

I like the "Nebbish Programmer" thought. Sort of reminds me of Alfred E Newman.
