Sorry to see it go so soon I was enjoying it and it had a good run. Still I'll be looking forward to the next dynasty you write. And hopefully backing it up will help your next dynasty be much longer lasting

I'm all for seeing what you can do with the pirates.

Sorry about your dynasty, good luck with the next one. My vote is for the Mets.

Well that always hurts when you lose a file.

I was enjoying following along, and it seemed as though you were starting to turn the corner. I do think you did a nice job of tieing up the loose ends as best you could given the situation.

Best of luck on the next one, and I'll be following along. I'd vote for the Pirates by the way.

Sorry to see this dynasty go down like it did. You did a great job and I really enjoyed following along.

I might look at starting my own Nats dynasty now. I couldn't get into the Jays (my team), or the Pirates. Mid-way through my first season I wasn't doing too bad with the Bucs but it's difficult to get involved in a team that feels like it lacks even 1 franchise player. Unless you don't mind that, I'd suggest going somewhere other than Pittsburgh for your next dynasty.

I play the Nats in the BSO online league and am having a blast with them, so I think I'll give solo a shot to see if I can win them a World Series and dedicate it to you

Not to agree with everyone, but I was also really enjoying this dynasty. I too would vote for the Pirates. Personally, I'm preparing a Minnesota Twins one right now. I think playing some time in advance of posting is a great idea. Helps you keep on top of things. Really sorry to hear about the crash. Can't wait for the next one.

Damn what a shame! A great franchise lost! Just like the lost city Atlantis

I'd love to see my Cubs win a World Series in some eon, but they have plenty of talent. The Pirates seem to be a big challenge, and you would need to erase 18 straight years of missing the playoffs.

I am really sorry to hear about your dynasty. You had made some very good moves and I was really looking forward to reading about the SS that you drafted 1st overall last year.

Whatever team you choose I will definately be following!

My computer crashed about two weeks ago, and while I had my written portions of the Dynasty I've posted since backed up, I hadn't backed up my dynasty itself. I have spent the last two weeks doing everything I could think of to try and save it, and I had a couple tech-savvy friends give me advice and look at it, but alas, there was no hope but to restore everything, and lose all my data. Today was when I finally restored the comp, and officially gave up hope of saving the Dynasty (as well as some other semi-important files, but that's not relevant here). I have attempted to convey some of that abruptness in the end of my tale, while also putting in some threads that I could use to help give it an actual ending. Hopefully you all appreciate that, and to those of you that were really getting into the Dynasty, you have my sincere apologies. Trust me, I was more upset to lose this story than you were.

Alas, I will all announce that I intend to start a new Dynasty. I have yet to decide upon a team, but I can say it won't be the Nationals, as I'd hate to try and replicate this storyline. It also won't be the Blue Jays or the Athletics, as the Jays already have a rather excellent dynasties representing them on the boards (props to ryan008 especially), and William Foster has started a rather enjoyable Athletics dynasty. Any suggestions for what people would like to see, I'll take into consideration (although I will say, it's probably between the Tigers, Mets, Pirates, Cubs, Giants and Diamondbacks). Once I've decided what team it'll be with, I intend to do about a year in advance offline before I post it, just so I always have extra stocked up. I also have learned my lesson, and will be constantly backing it up, so that no matter what happens, I should be able to continue on with the dynasty for as long as I can get employment in baseball.

Wow, I really appreciate all the support guys. I had no clue the thread was as popular as it seems it was. I'm glad you all were enjoying it as much as you were, and again I apologize for the crash. Hopefully you enjoy the storyline of the next franchise as much as this one.

A little update: I've chosen the Pirates for my next franchise, and had a full season played and updates written, but I've run into a little bug with the game (I get the No Starting Pitcher! error, and I'm currently trying to figure out a way around it, while trying to get a response in the tech support thread). If they get back to me by this weekend, and I can get it fixed, I'll get a little bit more in the bag and then start updating a new thread. If they don't, I'll just restart it again with the Pirates. I can't really complain, as this is the first bug I've fun into in my OOTP playing. Either way, I hope that by the middle of next week at the latest (worst case scenario) I'll have a new dynasty up and posted with time in the bag so I know I won't have to drop out of the story earlier then expected. The look will be similar to this thread, with some tweaks, but the storyline will be a little different (new character).

Thanks again for the support and kind words.

Glad you enjoyed it. It definitely felt like I was turning a corner with the Nats. And ya, I knew I wanted to tie it up nicely if it wasn't salvageable.

Thanks. I really did think about the Mets, as I really feel for them this year with all their crazy injury luck, but their seemed to be more people who wanted the Pirates, and I thought the Pirates offered a harder challenge. I really think the Mets, if they can avoid injuries next year, could win the Series, and I like the challenge of turning around bad franchises.

I appreciate it, and I hope you find the next dynasty as interesting to follow.

I can understand how it'd be hard to manage the Jays, since it's for those same reasons I won't manage them either. I'm just too attached to them, and I couldn't make the hard decisions (like Ryan's made in his dynasty to trade Lind away, as well as many others). I agree with you about the Bucs not really having a franchise player, but I like the idea of that challenge, especially after realizing their farm system is really poor as well.

If you do a Nats dynasty, I'll definitely be reading it. Having managed them twice now, I've grown to like them, and I'd love to see someone else take on them, and it'd be great to see how you'd go about turning them around. I'd appreciate the dedication, and I hope you can win one!

Ya, I've definitely learned my lesson, and I'm glad I did. Writing in advance helps in two ways, as it lets me write more on storylines that develop a little down the road, while it also makes sure I don't have to pull the plug like I did here. Again, I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I look forward to reading your Twins dynasty.

True, too much like Atlantis.. or even Mu and Lemuria. Ya, I liked the idea of the Cubs, as I feel they need a World Series soon, but the challenge of the Pirates drew me. The Cubs definitely have some talent they can win with.

I also was looking forward to seeing how my shortstop, Bumgar (terrible name, I actually thought about renaming him), progressed, especially compared to his draftmates. I'm glad to here you'll be following my next attempt at turning a team around.

Glad to see you enjoyed the read, jman. I can't believe you got through it all in the one night. I would have kept you up-to-date on the prospects of that particular draft for sure. It was one of the storylines that I was really looking forward to seeing develop, and writing for. I will attempt to do it in my new dynasty once I get it up and running, and hopefully you enjoy it as much as this one. For the record, I have a feeling that "The Franchise" was going to dominate Bumgar, as he was already tearing up AA, while Bumgar was struggling mightly.
