Actually, I think Jean is planning on having the league based in a fictional land with all city names fictional.

Either way... as long as I can still whine about a player hitting .230 with no power and hands of stone making 3 million a year, while I have to work the nine to five.

Sorry couldn't reply last night... cable company on strike, lots of vandalism and no cable for me

I was going to ask for the preliminary stuff when we would get to about 40 guys. I'll email you guys to tell you what I mwant from you.

About cities... I've designed a fictional Beta map. I've put some cities on it, but some names are awful so I didn't want to release the map just yet, I wanted to wait until I had better city names.

I can design some logos if need be... a friend's father is a graphic designer and he works with Photoshop, so I can have access to it.

About team names... what I planned on doing is let the owners come up with a name. If they want, they can let the fans decide via a poll or just asking them what they want (that would, of course, impact on the fan interest or something like that).

I'm in a really big rush with school stuff, but you can be sure that whenever I have free time I'll come over here and work on the league (I find it really relaxing, actually).

I would love to see a message board or something set up where we can start connecting up with one another and forming our associations. Hopefully there isn't too much work going on behind the scenes and I can still find an owner and manager who are on the same page as me (a J. P. Ricciardi-type style). It doesn't seem like I am missing out on much but you never know...

As a quick overview of my GM style I will look for things like high OBP, strong defense up the middle, being creative financially to work around any salary caps, etc. An ideal manager for me would be one willing to break the traditional molds as well. I just don't value stolen bases or bunting all that much in modern baseball and I think the typical batting order placements no longer are ideal (ie. If I managed the Giants Barry Bonds would have been 2nd or 3rd in the order with the pitcher batting 7th or 8th to distance himself).

Hopefully something will be set up soon but if this fits with anyone else you can contact me at bholmes4@cogeco.ca and perhaps we can discuss things further.

I can't wait for this league to make some serious progress and it should be a ton of fun!

Actually I'm looking for a host for the (Ikonboard) message board, because my current server doesn't allow any cgi, and that pisses me off quite a bit. If someone can provide space for that I'd be very grateful, thanks

Not yet. I need to find someone who shares my exact philosophy so they're less likely to get canned.

So far no one has chosen their GMs and Managers (not that I know of anyway). I'll ask people to write a profile so that they can team up with someone that have somewhat the same views.

Signing a manager or GM before you even have a team? That's nice and risky.

I doubt much of it means anything until we see the teams. I could love pitching, defense and speed above all else, but if the players I had to work with (as a manager) did not fit that description, then I would be a fool not to adapt my philosophy to the team.

Quick Quiz... what team did Pete Rose play for when he got his 4000th hit?

easy. Montreal.

I figure I might as well find people who fit my philosophy before hand because, well... it's always worked. If the team I get doesn't fit it... the GM needs to be able to trade for players that do.

Canadians are going to get many questions right. After all, the first baseball game was played in Canada (take that, Cooperstown).

Rose might've gotten 4000 with the Expos, but I just got 1000 posts as Expos on this board

P.S. I'm glad to see I got to 1000 posts before twins15
Here are some words I want to include in my 1000th post: Canada+Québec+Montréal, Bush sucks, Storm Thorgeson, ExposFan08, Beta Baseball, Aurélie, Go Expos!

By the way... we just got our 12th owner. That means that we are now full at the Owners and GMs positions, we need MANAGERS and FANS/PRESS.
