"The Future Is Now" Fight Card Results

Staples Center, Los Angeles, California, USA

Main Event:

Gregorio Peralta, Argentina, 11-1-0 (8) (UD15) Owen Beck, Jamaica, 7-2-1 (7)

Supporting Bouts:

Vassily Jirov, Kazakstan, 12-1-0 (12) (KO5) Marco Huck, Yugoslavia, 13-0-0 (11)

Huck suffers his first setback as he tries to step up in competition. We will see if Huck can regain the momentum he had going as he tried to get to the elite level.

Vic Darchinyan, Australia, 5-0-0 (5) (TKO8) Rufus Brassell, USA, 6-1-0 (3)

Darchinyan handles Brassell with relative ease and continues to impress the boxing community as he seeks to move up in competition.

Lopez McGee, USA, 1-3-0 (1) vs. Jeff Shelburg, USA, Pro Debut

Our opening bout features the much anticipated pro debut of Jeff Shelburg. Shelburg enters the pros after a very successful amateur career and has signed with The Lee Skye Management Team, who will be responsible for promoting, training and managing the professional boxing career of this potential USBA star. Shelburg looks in excellent shape while McGee comes in a little “fleshy.” Oh my, what a start to a career…Shelburg knocks down McGee with 1:30 left here in only the 2nd minute of his pro career! And that is all she wrote…McGee cannot get up. Shelburg wins by (KO1) . The fans are going crazy! I don’t think either Shelburg or his handlers thought it could be scripted this well, although they may have wanted to get in some rounds for actual ring experience. This debut will definitely create some excitement in the heavyweight division. Will Shelburg be able to live up to the expectations that could be created with this kind of pro start? We will definitely be checking in on the progress of this fighter as he moves up in competition.

Top 2 Voted Challengers Lose...

Reigning WBA Champion, Chuck "No Doubt" Norton and his management team suffered a setback when both Ken Norton and Apollo Creed lost their last fights. Ken Norton and Creed were leading the open public voting to determine the fighter that would receive a chance at "No Doubt" Norton's title on Thanksgiving Day. Ken Norton lost to Canada's George Chuvalo while Apollo Creed lost in Australia to hometown fighter, Larry Foley.

CABO Championship

CABO Title Fight

Champion Teofilo Stevenson, Cuba, 19-4-0 (19) vs. #17 George Chuvalo, Canada, 14-2-1 (14)

Stevenson is giving Chuvalo a rematch from a CABO title fight held in May. Stevenson won that fight by a (TKO13), up in British Columbia, to take the title from Chuvalo. This is truly a heavyweight fight…both fighters throw hard leather and each shot makes me wince. All the wins by each fighter have come by way of stoppage, so we expect nothing but action in this fight. The fight is too close to call going into the fourth. The champ has developed some swelling under his right eye. Stevenson finally decides to box and uses his jab to keep the distance and easily outpoints Chuvalo 21-6 in the 4th. Another round for the champ, 18-2 in the 5th. This fight seems to be shaping up just like Chuvalo’s last fight against Ken Norton. Chuvalo is fading pretty badly, losing the 6th, 20-0. Chuvalo pulled off a huge come from behind win over Ken Norton with a last minute KO in the 15th of that fight. Can he do it again? The 7th is a fan-friendly round, both fighters trading big shot after big shot. We have the champ ahead but the concern is the ever increasing swelling under and around the eye of Stevenson. Chuvalo crumbles to the canvas at the :59 mark of the 8th but gets up quickly and actually finishes the round with 3-4 solid blows that fends off the champ. The challenger is in bad shape. Chuvalo is cut, knocked down again in the 9th, and is completely fatigued. I am surprised the referee didn’t stop the fight with Stevenson out pointing his opponent 26-2. The doctor has looked in on Chuvalo’s cut over his eye in both the 10th and 11th but has allowed the fight to continue. It looks as though Chuvalo is specifically targeting the cut by the right eye of the champ to try to get a stoppage, sensing that this may be his only chance to win the fight. Chuvalo lands three hard punches and Stevenson was definitely hurt in the 12th. Stevenson knocks Chuvalo down three time in the 13th and looks at the referee, who decides to let the fight continue. I am surprised that either the ref or Chuvalo’s corner doesn’t stop the fight. Chuvalo clearly cant win this fight and is completely fatigued. This is how a fighter gets severely hurt. Why not come back another day? I will say , however, that George has the heart of a champion. The fight ends and there is absolutely no mystery here. 147-133, 147-135, 144-136, winner by (UD15) and still CABO champion, Teofilo Stevenson. It was a one-sided affair all night long and the referee did a horrible job. I just hope that Chuvalo doesn’t suffer any lingering results from the punishment that he absorbed the entire fight.

Shelburg's Next Opponent

The Lee Skye Management Team is looking over a list of prospects for their fighter's next opponent. They are mulling over whether they should schedule a fight for November because of the quick stoppage of their last fight. Do they want their fighter to get a lot of fights and experience in a shorter span of time or do they want to take their time and carefully hand-pick their fighters opponents to develop a good record? We will see how Shelburg's team handles his future.

James Barber, USA, pro debut
Reggie Strickland, USA, pro debut
Kent Clark, USA, 1-2-1 (1)
George Giambastini, USA, 1-3-0 (0)
Rick Jarvis, USA, 1-2-1 (0)
Herb Zimmerman, USA, 0-1-0 (0)
Carl Edwards, USA, pro debut

Stankovich's next opponent...

The G.C.G. Management Team responsible for professional boxer, George Stankovich, is carefully looking over the list of possible future opponents. Stankovich had a successful debut and looks to continue to fulfill his potential towards a ICBA title. We will have to see how his handlers manage his career. Will they try to be patient and gain experience over a planned course of time or will they try to move up against better opposition quickly and possibly ruin the future of their fighter with some early losses? We will see as we follow the path of this fighter.

Bill Pascoe, New Zealand, 1-4-0 (0)
Terence John Archer, Australia, pro debut
Les Bowtell, Australia, 1-1-0 (0)
Eddie Freed, Australia, 2-4-0 (1)
John Justice, Australia, pro debut
Jim Tracey, Australia, pro debut
David Ravu Ravu, Fiji Islands, pro debut
Joseph Polu, Samoa, pro debut

News Flash

If you are a true boxing fan, then next month could truly be the time to give thanks. Sources tell us that three of the four heavyweight titles will be on the line as WBA Champion Chuck Norton, WBC Champion Mike Tyson and IBF Champion Rocky Marciano will all be in action. Tyson has already signed a contract to defend his title against Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield. Holyfield is the only man to ever defeat "Iron" Mike and Holyfield had Tyson down five times in that fight. Tyson and Holyfield II ended prematurely as a technical draw due to a cut suffered by Holyfield. Tyson wants to end all speculation that he is ducking Holyfield and has told the press that this fight will be over very quickly. Unconfirmed reports have it that Marciano will be facing a fellow Italian from Philadelphia, named Rocky Balboa. Balboa and Marciano met on the set while shooting the Soprano's feature length movie. Marciano wants to show that he has a big heart and hasnt forgot where his family originally came from. There is tremendous support for this fight within the Italian community. "The Italian Stallion," Rocky Balboa, is not currently ranked and many boxing experts and fans dont like the fact that Marciano is taking a relatively easy fight. Harry Wills, Joe Frazier, Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes all believe that they have much better credentials and are being passed over. The NAACP is protesting this fight, citing the rankings and records of Balboa compared to the previous boxers mentioned. We will keep you up to date as this story continues to unfold.

A mysterious suitcase...

Unconfirmed reports have surfaced that Golden Boy Promotions delivered a large suitcase filled with cash to the management team that represents IBF Champion Rocky Marciano. An unidentified witness claims to have seen an unbelievable amount of cash, somewhere in the range of $500,000 that was handed over to someone that he recognized is a part of Marciano's entourage. The source says that he never saw Marciano take any money.

GCG Promotions has chosen Les Botwell as the next victim for George. Les had a solid amateur career and should provide a good sparring opportunity to help move Georges career along.

Leather sandwich for "Stinky"

Word out of Les Bowtell's camp is that he is extremely angry about his next fight. "Stinky or stanky, and his crew thinks that he is just going to walk right over me. I can't believe that they called me a sparring partner for the next fight! Stinky is going to be looking up wondering what happened and won't have much to say after I punch him in the mouth!" Bowtell's trainer has told us that he has never seen his fighter so upset and that it will be easy to motivate him to train hard for the upcoming fight.

WBO Championship

WBO Title Fight

Champion Joe Louis, USA, 16-1-0 (15) vs. #5 Max Schmeling, Germany, 21-4-1 (19)

Schmeling is the #1 ranked contender and gets a title shot after winning the EBU Title from Vitali Klitschko. Louis and Schmeling’s common opponents were Australia’s Peter Jackson and Russia’s Ivan Drago. Louis won both fights, (TKO10) vs. Jackson and (TKO1) vs. Drago. Schmeling lost both fights, (TKO11) vs. Jackson and (TKO9) vs. Drago. Both fighters enter the ring in great shape. The bell sounds as the crowd anticipates a great fight. Schmeling throws a looping shot and Louis steps inside of it and lands a perfect combination as Schmeling slumps to the canvas at the :40 second mark. Schmeling is definitely hurt but manages to get out of the 1st on his feet. The champ outworks his opponent in the 2nd as Schmeling seems to have recovered from the knockdown in the 1st. Louis is firing at will, 23-4, as the challenger is having trouble with the hand speed of the champ. Schmeling is finally getting his punches off first here in the 4th. Louis is bleeding from a cut above the right eyebrow that he received from an accidental head butt while in a clinch. That cut may cause problems is Louis’ corner cant control the bleeding. Louis knocks Schmeling down at the 1:09 mark of the 5th from a barrage of punches. Max gets up right away but goes back down just as quickly from a wicked cross to the head. Louis has tremendous power and is widely regarded as one of the best finishers in the business. Schmeling is down for the 3rd time this round with :37 seconds remaining. Schmeling gets up at the count of nine but the referee stops the fight. The winner and still WBO Champion by (TKO5) , Joe Louis. All cards 39-36 Louis at stoppage.

So how does one go about getting a promotional contract with one of your fighters? If it is possible I would love to promote Rampage and if not somebody else would be cool to it looks like fun.

No Problem

It wasn't something that I ever discussed with these guys, I just left the option open because they each posted or sent me a file of a non-fictional fighter that I asked them for. I just left Mason Dixon for bear because he just created the file. I was just waiting for someone to do that character. Some people are interested and some just like to read. I then decided that it might be fun to let them use their own creations. I can see that there are a lot of people that do read all these running universes and I wanted to include anybody that unselfishly shares with others to make this a friendly community. I am open to letting anybody have someone to manage. The only problem is that since I have all HW's fighting (around 3500) right now, I am trying to attach each person to a fighter (and a fighter that is somewhat decent and has a chance to advance in the rankings), that is just starting his professional career. I know that you have an interest in the MMA sport, so I think it would be a nice fit for you to use Rampage. I will post some fighters for your management team to choose from. Let me know the name of your team. I usually just name it, but you are the first person to inquire about actually joining so it would be good for you to have your own created name of your management/promotional team. Thanks for the interest.
