Hi,
How do I go about getting this issued logged (TT)? I have saved files and instructions I can send to somebody to reproduce the problem if necessary. But I don't know who to send it to. Can somebody help me? |

Ok, I posted the save file to the ftp (the filename is MetsMan1.zip) Instructions: 1) When you enter the game, controlling the Montreal Expos, make a trade with the Oakland Athletics. There should already be a trade setup in progress: (HUMAN TEAM)Montreal Expos offers: SS Alex Rodriguez, $500,000 (CPU TEAM)Oakland Athletics Offers: 3B Jason Giambi, LF Phil Nevin, MR Rick Aguilera This deal is close to being alright, but NOT accepted 2) Now in the same trade screen, select the Double A roster for Oakland. Add SP Jesus Sanchez to the trade. You'll notice that Jesus Sanchez is a minor leaguer with a MINOR LEAGUE contract. This deal is now all of a sudden ACCEPTED by the CPU The computers threshold for trades went down just because I added a minor leaguer from the CPU team. This should not be happening because the minor leaguer has a MINOR LEAGUE contract, so why should I be given leverage/advantage in a trade for accepting him? If the CPU wanted to dump this player, the CPU could have easily just released him without any financial consequence. If I accept the trade, I too could release him without any financial consequence. 3) To further illustrate the magnitude of the problem, you could even take an extra draft pick from the CPU (6th round pick) after adding Jesus Sanchez. So not only did the CPU accept the deal, but the CPU is willing to give you more leverage and allow you to steal an extra draft pick from them (just for taking the insignificant MINOR LEAGUE contract of Jesus Sanchez). 4) If you would like to turn that 6th round pick into a 5th round pick instead, you could just go to Oakland Athletics Triple A roster and add SP Jim Hill to the deal. By adding this minor leaguer, the CPU is willing to give you the 5th round draft pick now. The CPU team has given you more value simply for accepting a minor league player with a MINOR LEAGUE contract. These trade situations can easily be replicated again very easily. 1) The easiest way is to simply setup a trade that is barely accepted. Best way to do this is to add cash to a close trade until you find the threshold at which a trade is barely accepted. 2) Once you've found this, simply remove a little bit of cash until it is no longer accepted (close to being alright but NOT accepted). 3) Now, cycle through adding one minor leaguer at a time, until you find one where the CPU is willing to accept the deal with. The CPU thinks that taking a minor leaguer from their team, is doing them a favor, when it shouldn't be. |

this has happened to me several times too, and i'm betting it can happen just about any time you negotiate for trades. i make it a rule to never trade draft picks or money, but this AI trade behavior can be demonstrated just as easily when trading players only.
please fix.

Right. This is easy to reproduce in any league. Great find and thanks for the steps to reproduce it.

The strange thing about this problem is that there doesn't seem to be any consistent basis among the minor leaguers that this problem occurs with. Basically, I'm saying that I can't seem to find any reason why the CPU deems these particular minor leaguers as "I'm willing to give you leverage if you take him off my hands". It could be that I just haven't been able to find any correlation. What I have noticed was that it doesn't seem to be the best prospects involved, but not necessarily the worst prospects either. It seems somewhat random. By cycling through and trading for each minor leaguer on the CPU's team, you could eventually find a player(s) where this problem occurs, but I can't seem to find a way to distinguish between the minor leaguers involved and the minor leaguers it doesn't work for. Like I said, just seems somewhat random. There hardly is a basis to why it happens for one minor leaguer, but not another. I've found that sometimes you can't even get this to work for the CPU's worst prospect, yet it works for a slightly better prospect. It's not like the CPU picks the worst player in their organization to fit in this category.
