The suspensions are getting ridiculous, I can't believe any suspensions came out of that crap. Basketball is an emotional sport that involves contact. People are going to get knocked down and players are going to show emotion. The incident was controlled quickly without any escalation...that should have been the end of it. Noone did anything worth suspension*, in fact, calling the foul flagrant was pretty borderline IMO.
*Obviously they did by the letter of the law according to the NBA, I just think that taking a couple steps away from a folding chair is a bit ridiculous. If they are that worried about players coming onto the floor they need to put a of padded wall or something between the team bench & the court. If a player actually jumps over that and comes onto the court I can understand but when it only takes 2 steps for a player to "be on the court" then they need to show a little more discretion when suspending players for it. |

They are moving the 3-point line back in college hoops next year, most likely. I think the rule change is in committee right now.
What's wrong with the NBA? Well, I've just started watching again during these playoffs after not watching for the better part of a decade. I could name a lot of little things that bug me that I noticed are different now (constant moving screens, less of an emphasis on offensive players: seems most teams have just 1-2 offensive-minded players and then a bunch of athletic defender types, no traveling violations, lots of cheap and shady play that isn't called, several other things), but the #1 thing I can see wrong with the NBA, based on what I've seen in the playoffs, is that it's not really about the game anymore. Half the game, half the talk of the announcers, 80% of what the fans are concerned with all revolves around referee calls, how the other team is acting, thatshouldbeaflagrant!, T HIM UP!, all of this sideshow drama crap is what everyone talks about. One thing I love about football and baseball is that there is all the sideshow crap between games, but when the ball is put in play, 90%+ of the focus of the game is on the actual talent and strategy that is on the field. If you see pissing each other off, bitching about ref calls and whining non stop as part of stategy and talent, then sure, whatever. I don't see it that way. I see it as soap opera drama. I must say that, despite this annoyance, I have still found watching playoff basketball enjoyable. |

If you start letting one player get away with it then pretty soon we have everbody brawling like the old days. If i wanna watch wrestling i will watch wrestling. When i watch basketball i wanna see basketball being played. But just because Duncan hasnt been punished doesnt mean the suns players are innocent and shouldnt be suspended. |

Anyone read Bill Simmons' article today? He answered the question in his own way, and I can't say I disagree with anything he said.
