This just in, turnovers and penalties are just as big as offense in football. The Eagles had four turnovers, to the Buccaneers zero. The Eagles also had 50 yards more in penalties. I don't call sloppy play "dominating" other teams. Drive 50 yards and turn the ball over and you still have "zero", that's all that matters.

What's funny is I see GH being just as intolerant of a view opposite his as he's accusing in the posts made by Marc.

Marc is right in that a team can dominate a football game and still lose. In a 60 minute game with a hundred plays run you can have your way for 95 of them and if the other 5 end up being turnovers resulting in points, you lose. That doesn't mean you didn't dominate the game...it means you didn't get the job done when the game actually mattered.

At the end it does come down to winning or losing but to say a team can't dominate a game and still lose is intellectually dishonest.

Despite your wrong-headed characterization of events, I'm glad you think it's funny.

No he isn't.

And if you didn't get the job done, you didn't dominate. Again...the job isn't to get yards, the job is to get points. If you don't get the most points, you didn't do your job and in no way did you dominate.

"Intellectually dishonest"...one of those phrases that sounds impressive to those who don't know what it means. I, however, do and it's, quite simply, stupid. I have done nothing intellectually dishonest...I've pointed out the flaws in his logic, which is the definition of intellectual honest debate.

A valiant effort, though. Feel free to try again.

It's nice GForce denies intolerance of opposite opinions in a post where he says someone's wrong. KUTGW!

Now, for those who are more open minded than GF, it's the equivalent of a boxer dominating a bout for nine rounds. He's ahead on the cards, he's been beating his opponent mercilessly and has had one knockdown already. In the 10th, the guy who's been beaten comes from the corner and lands one punch that knocks out his opponent.

The first guy clearly was dominating and the second guy won. It's the same thing with team sports despite the efforts of GForce to deny them.

I'm not going to throw your view point out the window, but football is a game of not making mistakes. If you make more mistakes than the other team, your team has flaws and you are not dominating. Total yards on offense does not mean you are a dominant football team.

There's a reason why teams such as the Oakland Raiders are undisciplined and have five false starts in one quarter. If you turn the ball over and commit stupid penalties, you are not a dominant team. Like GH said, putting points on the board is how you win games. Getting 60 yards and then punting/turning the ball over means that you cannot sustain drives and put points on the board. If you ever listen to head coaches and analysts, they always say how turnovers and penalties make and break teams.

And as far as the boxing reference goes, kudos to the boxer for being able to withstand 9 rounds of punches and deliver a crunching blow in one shot. Don't tell me you don't think stamina has a part in the game, either?

Don't recall ever making that statement, but again I'm glad you enjoy stalking me so much.

You didn't disagree with me, you posted childish comments that had nothing to do with the topic I was discussing.

Now run along, you have more trolling to do.

interesting that people who call you out for being ridiculous are stalking trolls.

i just don't understand how gforce's ultralogical "if a team gets outscored, they did not dominate" gets scoffed at while daed's story about boxing gets a comment from you that suggests it's the first logical thing said in the thread. well, i mean i get why you did that, i just don't get how you thought anybody would buy into that.

It's nice that you equate thinking someone is wrong with being intolerant. Actually, it's not nice...it's just very, very stupid. It is, however, particularly funny that you criticize someone saying someone else is wrong, then proceed to call the dissenting view "intellectually dishonest" KUTGW!

Aside from your pathetic use of "open minded", your analogy is foolish. This was more akin to a fighter landing more cumulative but less powerful shots throughout the fight. He's effective, but the damage he's inflicted really doesn't measure up to the amount of blows he's landed. The opponent, however, is landing a bit less frequently, but his blows are vastly more powerful. And in the end, that opponent landing the more powerful blows ultimately scores the knockout. Nobody...well, nobody who's "open minded" anyway, would possibly say the first fighter dominated. Unless they happened to be fans of the first fighter. Or relatives...I guess they would too. But that's it.

Sounds like you're saying I'm wrong. INTOLERANT!!!

I'm off to bed, DAED, but I'll be happy to smack you around a bit more tomorrow if you survive the standing 8 count

WAFFLE! You obviously have a crapload left to learn about... well... everything. Mostly how to argue, though.

"No, actually I am right," is a piss-poor argument.
