I agree. But in a world where Gary Matthews Jr is making $10 million a year...

my thoughts exactly. Now if Pods could combine his 2006 RBI total with his 2005 Avg and Stolen Bases he could be a bargain...

Listening to Kenny talk about re-signing Podsednik has made me actually start to like the man again. Paraphrasing, he basically said "We tried to find someone better, but couldn't, so I guess this will do...for now."

It was the most unencouraging signing ever. At least Williams realizes Podsednik is bad.

Was he saying sarcastically like there is no player better than him or did he actually mean it like there is no one available and we will just deal with him?

The latter of the two.

Well, I don't think Podsednik actually starts the year with the team. They have too many young outfielders who are simply much better players. Unless they want to pay him to be a $3 million pinch runner, they'll find a way to move him. At least, that's what they should do.

FWIW, Williams also said Crede won't be getting a multi-year deal. It bothers me when Williams does smart things.

not going to be able to move him with the big money bag. And I dont like the idea of them picking up the money bag for someone else. If they do that then they might as well have a 3 million dollor pinch runner.

If not Podsednik, then who? There is no one in the organization that can replace him yet. I guess the Sox are going to try and re-aquire Rowand, but if that doesn't happen, then Pods is the lead off guy / starting LF for the whole year.

There's been talk of Jerry Owens or Ryan Sweeney - then again, there's also been talk of acquiring Rowand and moving Anderson to left...

Now Rowand is an alternative. Starting more guys with no real MLB time is not an acceptable solution for a contending team.

I've also heard rumors/pipe dreams about the Sox acquiring Carl Crawford.

Then again, I'm also hearing rumors from the Winter Meetings of a Crede/Garcia for A-Rod swap. Allegedly, A-Rod would play short and Josh Fields would be placed at third. Not sure what that would mean for Uribe, though.

Uribe need to go. He is very undisciplined at the plate and I think his poor offense outweighs his defense. I think getting a new SS is a higher priority than a new LF.

Rodriquez does have issues peforming in the clutch and that does worry me, but yet it could be possible he will feel the pressure is lifted off of him playing in Chicago and with Konerko, Thome, and Dye in place to supply the HRs, A-Rod can focus more on average and less strike outs.

But then you have to remember that A-Rod hasn't played SS in three years. How good he will be SS is unknown.

According to WSCR, the Sox have agreed to a 1-year deal with Pablo Ozuna for $800k.

As long as he doesn't play outfield more than a handful of times, I'm very happy with this.

Cancel the 2007 season. Give the Sox the trophy now. Pablo Ozuna = Championship. Except last year.
