Why do they have spring training at all then? Why do all major professional leagues have a period of time for acclimation? I would assume it's because they need it. Why do you think they have it?

If you want to do the WBC, you do it right, which means playing it in November instead of March.

Take the Championship team from each league and pit them against each other in a bracket/playoff format to decide a true World Champion.

If the Yankees beat the Braves in the World Series (MLB), then put them in another tournament against the Championship team from the Domincan, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Japan, Korea, etc.

Make it required and pay every player the same bonus.

That way, the players can't opt out, there's no choosing between two nations bull****, everyone is ready to go, there's something at stake, and it respects the integrity of winning your respective league.

I think you're right in your above point but Spring Training is for the teams as much as it is for the players. You'll see the borderline players playing as hard as they can because they need to put up good stats and impress the coaches for a job. Teams need to look at how the players are doing now to determine who gets a job.

Won't work. The players just got out of a season in which they played at the most, 162 games. The catchers are in pain, and the pitchers are exausted. This would setup even more of a risk of injury then if you played it in February/March.

I think the best time would be mid-summer, but I doubt MLB would ever consider that.
