We get Monday Night Football over here on terrestrial telly and that's great because not that many people watch NFL and it's on in the middle of the night so there are hardly ever any adverts. They always just go back to the studio for analysis. Of course this being the superbowl we've gotta suck 'em up. Plus a different channel is broadcasting it no we get no analysis at all now, which I can't stand because I think the normal analynisersist is really good. Anyway it's late and I'm going to bed and I'm sick of hearing that crappy Coors beer sponsers the NFL on ITV and that you can buy any replica jersey from JDD sports. I'm never buying any of their prodcts again, that's for sure. Anyway, night all, hope the second half's more interesting and good luck supporters/gamblers.

I'd be interested to hear if Hollis thinks the Stones are doing anything any better than McCartney did last year. Seems like a near identical performance to me - McCartney's production quality was much better.

And there was the girliest high-five slap I've ever seen in my life from Mick.

Worst version of Satisfaction, ever. Devo was much better.

Production quality has to be low on the Stones, lest we hear quite how bad Jagger's voice now is.

True. I'd much rather watch four billion weeks of games that feel nine hours long where, at the very least, the commercials aren't obnoxious!

Wilbon the other day asked a very good question. "The game is in Motown, why do they need to bring in the Stones?"

They did get Stevie Wonder to warm up, but why not let him do halftime. Shoot, White Stripes are from Detroit. Hell, Nugent would have been better than this.

The crowd is cheering them:

1) Therefore, they must be listening to some other soundtrack.
2) They have been hypnotized into believing Jagger doesn't sound like geese farts on a muggy day.
3) The crowd is really booing, but ABC threw in a cheering soundtrack over the real sound, because Homeland Security asked them to.
4) All of the above.

Well, this Super Bowl is running on all cylinders!

*****y production on the pre-game music.
*****y production on the anthem.
A royally *****y national anthem.[1]
A dull first half.
*****y coaching by the Seahawks in the final minute.
*****y production on the half-time show.
The Rolling Stones. Not satisying.

The second half has a long way to go to make up for this dreck.

[1] Given the consistently awful performances of the Nat'l Anthem at major sporting events, I wonder how folks feel about the Jose Feliciano performance from the 1968 World Series. It was considered so appalling then and was so roundly criticized...but I think it was one of the most heartfelt and beautiful performances of the anthem ever. If you want to do an alternative version, take a page from Jose. (IMO)
