By my calculations, the cost to me in Australia is €31.99 or $51.39AUS but if I purchased in US funds then the price is $27.99 or $38.19AUS.
This is ALWAYS the case with any product. There are people that pay close to 70 bucks for a game we pay $50 for in the U.S.

It has more to do with your country and it's economy than it does with SI, Marc, and Markus.

You misunderstood the point I was making.

I wasn't concerned about the higher price in Australian dollars compared to the US price since I have to deal with the exchange rate all of the time. That's not the problem. I was pointing out the difference in the two Australian dollar amounts ( in bold ).

If I pay in Euros, it costs me $51.39AUS.
If I pay in US $, it costs me $38.19AUS.

The product is not being shipped so there are no delivery charges involved. I still don't see why a download product should have a different cost ( an extra 35% in this case ). I'm sure you'd see my point if the costs were reversed ( which I understand they were for Football Manager ) and US customers were paying more for the same product.

This just went from an automatic impulse buy to a "you-must-be-kidding-me" no sale.

So you have... a month and a half to wait, or is that November 31st?

What does that have to do with the markup on OOTP?

I think that it was a reply to this:

But it doesn't address the problem of why the higher price for people outside the US.

In this thread, there was mention that Canadians were incorrectly shown the price in Euros but this "should correct itself to $" as well as "The key thing on the store is, put your correct address in and country and you get the right price". Put the wrong address and country in and you get FITA.

If you are in North or South America, it should display US $

Else it will show Euros. There is a glitch at the moment that Canadians are seeing € and not $

my detailing of FM / EHM pricing was to respond to a thread about those games costing more to Americans, which was false. Their price points (set by SEGA US) were $29.99.

With both those games, the pricing in Europe was €44.99

OK, let's put it simply . . .

Why is the price higher for people outside of North and South America?

Simply

The prices are set relevant to the territory and relevant to what other similar games in the marketplace are charging in those territories

Marc,

I appreciate the straight answer even though I don't agree with it - or necessarily understand it. I know it's not easy coming to a board like this and fielding questions from people while still remaining civil.

I'm sorry if my tone came across as being gruff but I was getting answers to everything else except that one question. I kept the question short ( possibly curt ) so that I would "eschew obfusction".

Once again, I appreciate the fact that there is someone willing to come here and be put on the spot with these sort of questions.

I still believe the price difference for me is too great to make this an impulse buy at this stage. I'll wait-and-see instead.

Hopefully you'll see i wont shy away from answering peoples questions. I'm sure there will be other times that I will not give the answers people want to hear, but one thing you can be certain is ... I'll be honest!
