Billy Baldwin (1975-1976) baldwi002rob Two issues for dear old Billy. He has no MiLB ID, only his MLB ID in game, and he has no facegen of any kind in the folder. I copied one over from old files twice, calling one baldwi002rob, and one baldwbi01 to give him a facegen.
Edgar Barnhart (1924) barnha001edg Detailed above in the thread, but repeated here 'cause I just came across him again. He doesn't have an MiLB ID in the game. It's in the folder, but not the game. Pasty, ghostly too. Needs Vitamin D megadose stat. Frank Barrett (1939-1950) barret002fra Incorrect MiLB ID in fg_files folder (barret001fra). 001 guy leads to Francis Barrett, who has almost no info about him except that he played for the Franklin Kildees of the Virginia League (Class D) in 1951. Changed 001 to 002, and it fixed it. Johnny Barrett (1942-1946) barret002joh Incorrect MiLB ID in fg_files folder (barret001joh). 001 leads us to John Barrett, who played in the Boston Bees system from 1940-1942. 002 also exactly matches a Johnny_Barrett file in my collection, so I'm goin' with it. Johnny Bassler (1913-1927) bassle002joh Incorrect MiLB ID in fg_files folder (bassle001joh). I have an identically sized Johnny_Bassler in my old folder, and 001 leads to another guy named John Bassler, who kicked around the bush leagues for a couple of years as a pitcher. Bill Batsch (1916) batsch001wil 1) Got Bickersoned 2) Has no MiLB ID in game (should be batsch001wil). 3) He's in the folder as batsch001bil, but that's just another Bickerson dead end. I do have a BB-Ref photo of him though. Terrible angle, but he's there. Will upload (#1). Won't upload Bickerson shot, cause we already know what that goof looks like.
Desmond Beatty (1914) beatty001alo 1) Bickersoned 2) Has in game MiLB ID, but is listed in the folder as beatty001des in the folder. It's just a Bickerson anyway, so no matter. BB-Ref photo (not much help I would think) uploaded (#2). Rich Becker (1993-2000) becker002ric In folder as becker001ric. Exact same size as my Rich_Becker. Switched it to 002, and we're good to go. Jim Beckman (1927-1928) beckma001jam In folder as beckma001jim. Matches my Jim_Beckman, so it's him. In game, Beckman has no MiLB ID, so upload will be beckmji01 John Beckwith (NegL: 1919-1937) beckwi000joh Mine is from the Spritze DB, so I don't know if Mr. Beckwith has his MiLB ID in game or not. I'll upload mine (beckwjo00), as it's a different facegen than the beckwi000joh in the folder. |

Harry Hardy
Harry Hardy pitched 44 innings for the Washington Senators in 1905-6. I've scanned the usual info sites but there's nothing to be found on him. No press quotes, no commentary, no anecdotes. There are ancestry sites that note he had four daughters and the single word upon his tombstone is "Father", so he was more than a ballplayer. So I'll let that single word be the last one on Harry.
As for the facegen, the one I had was even worse up close so I tried to make a new one off of the pictures. Last edited by LansdowneSt; 07-30-2021 at 12:49 AM. |

Gene Ford
Russ Ford won 100 games in his major league career with a 2.59 ERA, mostly with the New York Yankees. This is not Russ Ford. This is Gene Ford who went 0-1 with the 1905 Detroit Tigers but as every website will tell you, Gene was Russ' brother. And don't think he didn't hear about that 0-1 record from his family every Thanksgiving....
Same favegen but colorized and tweaked to better align with what I presume was the starting point photo for the original facegen. |

Fred Burchell
Fred Burchell saw time in four big league seasons, primarily over a three-year stretch (1907 to 1909) with the Boston Red Sox. In 49 games as a big leaguer, he was 13-15 with a 2.93 ERA, walking 92 men and striking out 124 in 285 2/3 innings.
“His one great fault was lack of control, and then, too, he was not showing a disposition for hard work. With a big string of pitchers, Fred Lake decided that Burchell would never rise to the heights of a swell major league workman and disposed of him to Buffalo, where he will no doubt do good work.” - Boston Globe, July 24, 1909 Same facegen just colorized and some minor chin work done. |

John Sullivan
"When Jack Sullivan received his contract from Detroit, on discovering the price offered for the season's work, he tore up the contract." - Detroit Free Press 19 Jan 1905,
Catcher John Sullivan was eventually signed by the Detroit Tigers for the 1905 season and, for whatever that settled price was, delivered a .156/.250/.156 slash line over 13 games. He played one more game in the bigs, for the Pirates three years later going 0-1 at which point the Pirates offered $350 to retain him for the final month of the season. Jack was not happy. Per the Topeka Journal, "After a large row, in which he told the owners of the Pittsburg team what he thought of them, Catcher Jack Sullivan is on his way back to join the Kansas City team." He never sniffed the majors again. Made a new facegen based on the bRef picture. |

Harry Vahrenhorst
"Varenhorst (sic). whose name appears in a St. Louis score, is a Mound City youngster who has been playing independent ball with the Gittins. He is a lightly built chap and young, but has been doing some heavy batting for the Gittins." - Sporting Life, October 1, 1904
Harry Vahrenhorst had one appearance as a pinch-hitter with the 1904 St. Louis Browns. He struck out. - bRef Bullpen wiki Redid the facegen from the bRef photo as best I could. Last edited by LansdowneSt; 07-30-2021 at 09:07 PM. |

Charlie Loudenslager
Charlie Loudenslager made the major leagues in early 1904 with the Brooklyn Superbas. He played four innings for them on April 15, and went hitless in two at bats. He went on to a long minor league career spending most of his time as the second baseman for the Elmira Colonels. - Wikipedia
Same facegen but de-purpled. Always best to make a picture like this greyscale if you ever have to make a facegen from it. |

Art Goodwin
Art Goodwin tried out for the Brooklyn Superbas in the spring training of 1905, but did not make the team and pitched for Memphis in the Southern Association that year. On the last day of the major league season, October 7th, he appeared in a game for the New York Highlanders. He pitched to five batters--walking two, giving up two hits, and throwing a wild pitch. He never again appeared in the majors, leaving him with a career ERA of 81.00 in one-third of an inning. - Gambo & T_Wil1 Photopack thread entry

Orth Collins
Coming up with the Highlanders, Orth Collins had a strong cup of coffee, posting a batting line of .353/.389/.529 in five games. He did not come back to the majors until 1909, when he played for the Washington Senators, a team so bad that even Walter Johnson went 13-25. The team as a whole was 42-110. He was signed by the Senators after being suspended by the Buffalo Bisons for refusing to play in the second game of a double-header unless he got a raise. So, wherever you work, try the equivalent of that and let me know how it goes! - bRef Bullpen wiki
Same facegen just colorized and tweaked to try and look like the person in both the available pictures... |

As is to be expected, none of this latest batch are getting much love in my Bucs save. All, oddly, have been picked up by various teams, but are either being scantily used on on the Reserve Roster.
Still, nice to be getting them ready for their close-ups should they ever happen. G

King Bailey
King Bailey was simply born at the wrong time. The major leagues downsized from 25 teams in 1890 to 12 in 1892. When the American League began in 1901, pushing the number to 16, Bailey was nearing the end of his career. In his prime he had the talent to be a major leaguer, but not nearly the opportunity of players just a few years older. His one shot came late in the season (September 21) he was given a chance to show his stuff for the Reds. Bailey surrendered 13 hits and 8 runs (5 earned) to the last-place Colonels. The performance was not enough to earn Bailey a contract and the Reds left town on their exhibition swing without him. - SABR bio
I had no facegen so made this one. I have saved as the Historical ID (as OOTP doesn't load the minor league one) and the bRef Minor League one in case they fix that some day. |

Peek-a-boo Veach
"Veach acquired the 'Peek-a-boo' nickname while with Kansas City, which Ted Sullivan managed. He had a fine assortment of stuff, but always was bothered with men on bases. One day Sullivan sent him to the mound with the order 'Keep an eye on the bench and when my hands go up, fire the ball to first.' After Veach had picked off two men, the opposing team got wise and the signal was changed for the pitcher to keep an eye on a certain post in the grandstand and throw to first whenever he saw a scorecard waved in the air. His opponents finally discovered this signal too, but everybody began calling him "Peek-a-boo," as a result, and the name stuck." - Obituary, William Walter Veach, The Sporting News, Thursday, November 18, 1937

Ed R Taylor
Ed Taylor was the perfect pitcher during his one day in the majors leagues. In hurling three innings for the 1903 Cardinals on August 8, 1903, he gave up no hits, no walks, no wild pitches, no hit-by-pitch, and no balks. He was complimented on his performance by Sporting Life's issue of August 14, 1903. However, he never again pitched in the big leagues.
An apparent suicide, Ed Taylor hurled himself under a Dallas streetcar on the night of January 31st, 1912. - bRef Bullpen wiki Just the bRef sketch to go on. Couldn't shake some of the discoloration. Applied a texture pack to the be-speckled result from the import. |
