Is it just me or did the forum kind of change? Instead of the huge amount
of pages, there is a scroll of miny threads inside the Plague thread at the
top of the post? That didnt make much sense, and I can assure you all Im
not on drugs, either way, good work mets, keep it up.

Your display mode got changed to "hybrid." Switch it back to linear for the 'normal' look.

1928 Prospect Watch: LARRY BRYAN

Bryan is the latest in a series of rookies who are ready for the big leagues from the get-go. At 23, he is not your stereotypical firstbaseman, though. He could challenge for batting titles in the future, but his power stroke leaves something to be desired. He is solid defensively, but could very possibly be one of the slowest men in the game today. Normally he would go in the top 3 or 4 players, but this year's draft pool is quite deep, with the likes of Satchel Paige, Laymon Yokely, Chuck Klein and Willie Wells. Bryan could very well drop to the bottom half of the 1st round.

Talents (Contact/Gap/Power/Eye/Avoid K): 90/70/36/80/58
Current Ratings: 63/49/26/56/41

The only explanation I can give is a bad AI.

Laymon Yokely (who was an excellent, but very obscure Negro League pitcher) has talents of 102/55/69

Satchel - 93/107/97

Willie Wells - 88/94/72/60/67

Frankly, I thought Chuck Klein (97/84/98/68/62) should have gone 1st or 2nd. The top guy doesn't always go first, though. I've run numerous historical solo replays and even Babe Ruth only goes 1st about 2/3 of the time.

1928 FINAL STANDINGS

The Colts must have a crystal ball, considering their luck of late with 1st round draft picks. Cuckoo Christensen won the 1927 Rookie of the Year Award, and this year's first round pick, Del Bissonette seems to be an even better pick, with a .386 average, 23 homers and 117 RBI. They were again led by Joseph Tempkin to the postseason, but he only managed 25 wins, instead of 30. In 2nd place were the Perfectos, and, to be honest, they should have finished ahead of Chicago, considering their run differential. They scored 182 more runs than the Colts and allowed only 1 more on the defensive side, but they still finished 3 games back. Perhaps karma is on the Colts' side.

It has been 9 years since Buffalo was last in the World Series, and ironically (or poetically, depends on your viewpoint) the team that they faced were the infamous Dark Horses. Not only was Chicago maligned in the aftermath of the 1919 Series, but the Barons were considered to be pretenders to the throne. Despite the fact that barely anyone on the 1919 team remains, this is the chance for Buffalo to redeem themselves. That team had the legendary names of Sam Kingma, Walter Johnson and Jose Mendez. This team is led by Mel Ott, Luther Farrell, and wunderkind starter Clay Roe, names that may be less known, but could become equally legendary in the years to come. This is their first test.

I'm curious, Pete. With your tweaking of world history...how far are you willing to go in changing the US? With Kennedy getting a 3rd term, a certain precedent is set....is it possible that our democracy will crumble? Perhaps we fall into a monarchy, or civil war, or G-d knows what? I'm intrigued...

Probably the same thing that happened with the last guy to get 2+ terms will happen

A monarchy?? Doubtful. I may decide to toss a few nukes around in a couple decades, though.

This will be my last official post before I head out. I plan on doing a bit of research on the Arrow Cross Party while I'm there.
