Game 142 - @ Vancouver
Mesa's Ace Alberto "Bert" Hernandez was rudely greeted by Vancouver and Caspersan as the right took Bert deep in the first. Medina added to the Vanguard lead with a solo shot of his own in the 2nd (his 5th HR of the season). Mesa responded in the 6th when Gomez doubles home Sarver to trim the lead 2-1. Mesa DH Ken Maxwell led off the 7th with a double down the RF line, and 1B Ronnie Sinnott singled him home to tie the game 2-2. RF Aidan Charles brought Sinnott home with a SF to CF, putting the Monsters ahead 3-2. With 2-out and 2-on in the bottom of the 7th, Mario Diaz singled to left to tie the game up at 3. Hernandez would then give up a 2-run triple in the right-center gap to Pestana and the Monsters trail 5-3. Emerging MVP candidate LF John Sarver led off the 8th inning with a triple, but the Mesa batters were unable to bring him home, and left the inning still down 5-3 to host Vancouver. Maxwell led off the 9th inning with his 18th home run of the season, bringing Mesa to within 1. Sinnott reached on an infield single (one of those right back to the pitcher, cheap arse hits, that plague the game), and Dena would single him to 3rd, before All-Star Jose Cardenas drove Ronnie home with a single to left, tying the game at 5. With 2-on and 2-outs following a Douglas routine fly to LF, Sarver hit a screamer to right field, only to robbed of a go ahead hit by a diving catch. In the 11th, after a Dena walk and a 2-out single by Cardenas, All-Star 2B John Douglas lined out to LF on a great diving play. 3B Jose Cardenas led off the 14th, and advanced to 2nd on a groundout by Douglas. After a 1B by Sinnott, Orlando Gomez doubled in the go ahead run with a shot down the right field line. Mitch "Captain Kirk" closed out the bottom of the 14th for the Mesa win.

Game 143 - @ Vancouver
Mesa got on the board first when SS Antonio Vazquez singled home Dena and Gomez to go up 2-0. Vancouver would respond with 2 runs of their own to even it all up 2. Both teams' hurlers would pitch in and out of trouble and the team's decided 9 innings were not enough to decide the contest, so we went to extra innings again. In the bottom of the 10th, Caspersen would end it all with a 389-foot walk-off bomb into the left field seats, sending Mesa home with the loss and dropping RP Minner to 7-9.

Game 144 - @ Vancouver
In the 4th, Maurice "Kool Mo D" Davis doubled home Vazquez and the Monsters were up 1-0. Maxwell hit a 2-run job in the 5th to vault Mesa to a 3-0 lead. In the 6th, Cardenas would double up the lead with a 3-run opposite field bomb of his own, Monsters up 6-0. Wagner after pitching 6 shutout innings, gave up a couple of runs in the 7th, and Mesa would go on to finish the game with the win .... taking the series from Vancouver on the road, and hanging on to a 2nd place tie (1 GB) in the West.

Mesa drops 2 of 3 at Oklahoma, drops to 4th place, 2 GB.

Mesa takes the series 2-1 against Nebraska, moving into 3rd place ... heading into a key series at #2 Mexico City.

Mesa delivers a message, convincingly taking the series at Mexico City, only losing the game versus CYA front runner Castenda in the middle game. Mesa and Mexico City are tied for 2nd in the all important race to get 1 of the top 2 seeds, and a bye in the first round of the playoffs, with 9 games to play.

Mesa takes 2 of 3 from playoff qualifying St Louis, losing the 3rd game of the series when the shires scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 15th, after the Monsters put up 2 runs in the top of the frame to take the lead.

There's a 3-way tie for 1st place heading into the final series of the season.

Mesa sweeps Sin City in convincing fashion to secure the #1 seed in the West.

Now, the real season begins as Mesa enter the LDS against hated rival Gold Coast. The Monsters were 2-4 against the Grizzlies during the regular season.

In back to back games, Frankel dropped a 3-run homer on Mesa in the 1st inning.

Game ends on a passed ball with a runner on 3B. Pretty much sums up the entire disappointing series. Mesa, as the #1 seed, gets swept out of the playoffs by their rival. It was about as much fun as you'd imagine.
