Scouting Discovery: Lorenzo Campa
The latest scouting discovery of Boston's lead scout Dave Radovanovic comes from the Dominican Republic. The soon-to-be 17-year old pitcher Lorenzo Campa doesn't appear to have a star-studded future, but there must have been something about him that caused Radovanovic to take a chance. Only time will tell if this was a wise decision.

Detroit Makes Deal with Boston
The Detroit Tigers announced today that they reached a trade deal with the Boston Beaneaters. In parting ways with pitcher Togie Pittinger, the Tigers received in return 17-year old 3rd base prospect (#51 ranked) George Moriarty. The Beaneaters pick up a 2-time 20 game winner in Pittinger as they make a push for the NL title, while it is clear Detroit is retooling for the future.

Pirates Reach Deal with Cardinals
With the trade deadline less than a month away, teams are starting to make their moves. Here, the Pittsburgh Pirates sent pitcher Deacon Phillippe (season projected 1.6 WAR) and rookie 3rd-baseman Lee Tannehill (#56 ranked prospect) to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for All-Star 3rd-baseman Tommy Leach (season projected 5.4 WAR). It is an interesting trade given that the teams are currently tied in the National League standings; 5 games out of 1st-place.

Player Development
Head Scout Dave Radovanovic has filed his player development report. Positive news for Cozy Dolan who received an increase to his eye rating and a significant increase to his speed (this doesn't make sense given that he hardly plays at all). On the negative side of things, Cy Young control rating took a hit. As much as I hate to say it, I think Young is near the finish line of his career and I will look to move him at the trade deadline.
