MBL news: Sept. 23 -- Cedar Rapids claims back-to-back NL South titles

The Cedar Rapids Grapplers may have lost 3-1 to Indianapolis, but that didn't prevent them from sewing up a second straight National League South Division title.
A 6-3 loss by Quad City to Detroit left the Thunder eight games in back of the Grapplers with seven games left in the season.
The loss actually dropped QC into a tie for second with Des Moines.
Cedar Rapids (85-70) will advance to the National League championship series where it will face NL North champ Rockford.
The Lightning (98-57) will have home-field advantage.
The division title is the fourth for the Grapplers, who also won the NL South in 2021, 2035 and 2037.
Cedar Rapids has never advanced to the World Series.
