Starting Pitcher of the Month: David Matos - The 24-year-old right-hander went 3-1 in five starts with a 3.94 ERA. He pitched 29.2 innings, during which he struck out 23 and posted a 1.35 WHIP.

The St. Louis Cardinals have placed right-handed starting pitcher David Matos on the 14-day injured list after he left his most recent start in the second inning with a sore shoulder.
Matos, 24, has gone 7-8 with a 4.46 ERA in his 22 starts this season.
He is expected to be out for up to two weeks.
Replacing him on the roster is right-handed reliever Nick Robertson who was just sent down to AAA Memphis.
Robertson, 26, had not yet pitched for the Redbirds.
He has worked in 51 games for the Cardinals, going 2-3 with one save and a 4.29 ERA.
The loss of Matos will put Jack Flaherty back into the St. Louis rotation after he had been ticketed to the bullpen after a string of poor starts.
Flaherty, 28, is 3-6 with a 7.71 ERA in 15 starts.
Also back in the rotation is rookie Conner Lunn.
The 26-year-old right-hander has made 10 start in the majors, going 4-3 with a 4.95 ERA.

The St. Louis Cardinals have sent top prospect outfielder Jordan Walker back to AAA Memphis and placed outfielder Travis Demeritte on the 10-day injured list.
Walker was recalled to the majors after the All-Star break and while he displayed glimpses of power continued to struggle at the plate.
For the season, Walker is hitting .171 with nine homers and 21 RBIs in 49 games/45 starts in the majors.
Demeritte, 29, is currently out with an oblique strain which is taking longer than expected to heal.
He has spent most of the season in the minors, but has played five games in St. Louis where he has hit .294 with three RBIs.
Getting called up from AAA Memphis are outfielders Matt Koperniak and Tre Fletcher, who have both spent time in the majors this season.

Koperniak has played 22 games with the Cardinals this season, hitting .197 with one homer and four RBIs.
Fletcher, 23, has played in 25 games/22 starts and hit .205 with two homers and 10 RBIs.
