Abso-****ing-lutely. He sucks big time and needs time away. And this way, he can also throw some rehab starts in Triple-A without our needing his approval to demote him.

Maybe he'll just retire.

Jason Kendall just threw out Chone Figgins trying to steal!

He's 8-for-14 throwing out would-be base stealers so far this year!

Not bad for a cat who was 22/123 last season in deterring basestealers.

Those two had me scared but thank goodness we pulled it off. Too bad we couldn't muster more offense off Carrasco but a win is a win.
And that's the Zito I know and love.

I don't get it.

Calero threw 3 pitches and was looking great, and yet he still brings in Duchscherer for the 9th. Where was Street, he was supposed to be available?

Then, he had the lefty Kennedy warming up... but Duchscherer pitched to the lefty..

Oh well, at least it worked out tonight. My brain hurts too much when I try to understand Macha's ineptitude.

Lineup:

ellis 2b
swisher lf
chavez 3b
thomas dh
crosby ss
payton cf
johnson 1b
kendall c
kielty rf

Well... I guess at least Kielty's not hitting 5th and Kendall's not leading off, right? My guess is Kotsay gets a rest after slamming into the wall last night.

He also had a bruised-up leg from getting hit by a pitch in the KC series. He needed a day off.

Fair enough.

If we lose, I'm blaming Macha. I just wanna float that out there ahead of time

Chavvy!

Great start to this game. Let's hope Halsey can keep this lead he's been given.

Bobby Kielty has seen 6 pitches today.

He has 2 strikeouts.

The man was traded for Shannon Stewart and for Ted Lilly. How is he so terrible?

Matt Watson or C-Thomas should be given a shot. The Kieltina project has run its course, time to let him go for whatever.

I was thinking the same thing. IIRC, Two-Buck Chuck is actually hitting over three bucks in Sac.

EDIT: He's down to .284 now, as is Matt Watson. Kielty's AAA average? .222.

Other teams' announcers (especially the Angels) always rag on the A's for not sacrificing and stealing bases. But really, would you sacrifice bunt with Frank Thomas on second? You're just asking for the lead runner to be thrown out.

Lip reading appears to be:

Lackey: Stick that thing out there! (referring to Kendall's elbow pad)
Kendall: You got a problem with me?

And then Kendall charged him.

It looked like Kendall said "What the f*ck is your problem?" to me, but maybe I was just hoping for an expletive

Imagine how bad@ss Ken Doll would be if he could actually hit.

The play last year against Texas where he pretty much got cleated in the face to make the last out... Taking Lackey down... he's actually throwing runners out this year...

Stick that man on some PED's and let'r rip!
