Personally I don't think his height lets him down but his frame, if he had more weight and bulk on him which would give him more strength aka Jan Koller I think he'd be a better player.

Holy s*&t in the Premiership alone there are 6 teams within easily an hours drive, Wigan and Bolton are 15 minutes away. Leigh is 10 minutes away, not counting non league teams I'd say within an hour to an hour and half top of my head 20-30 teams easy.

Why? Because he's 6'7" you're assuming he's supposed to be a big powerful centre forward. He isn't. No more than he's there to score loads of goals; no point criticising him for only scoring against weak opposition when that's not why he's in the team. Showing he has only 5 assists doesn't prove anything either; if you watched him for Liverpool you would see that he holds the ball up, lays it off, the move continues. He doesn't necessarily get the final assist, but he keeps possession well and is involved in a lot of good build up play.

That doesn't mean anyone thinks he's a great player, but he has a role and does it well. That role should have been substitute in this World Cup, able to hold the ball up and be an outlet late in the game. I'll repeat, it's not Crouch's fault SGE picked 2 injured strikers and a 17 year old. It's not Crouch's fault Defoe (who's had a poor season, amply illustrated that you're comparing his goal tally to Crouch, not Bent) and Bent aren't there. It's not Crouch's fault that SGE picked Jenas, who is completely redundant given the cover available from other players, rather than a 5th striker. It's not Crouch's fault that Owen got injured, or that SGE won't play the superstar 17 year old. It's not Crouch's fault that Neville was poor and then injured, that Ashley Cole is about 60% fit, that Lampard and Cole are lazy sods who don't track back, or that Beckham is past it physically and wouldn't be in the team if it wasn't for his set pieces.

I've never said it was Crouch's fault could you show me where I did say that please, all I said is that Crouch isn't international quality nor imo is he good enough to play for a top premiership team. I get plenty reports of Crouch from season ticket holders one being my brother in law and they all say the same thing that Crouch just isn't up to helping a team win anything, what I meant with the Koller referance is that for what managers want him to do ie hold the ball up he doesn't have the strength to do that.

But I do agree with your opinions on what Sven as done as to be honest this World Cup as showed how inept he is as a manager and how he has fumbled his way through his job of England manager, but you know what if England do manage to win it all he'll sit their with that smug look on his face as though to say it was him who won it and not the team when in fact it will be down to the players and not him, glad when he does go because he's done nothing while he's been in the job.

Won't Shearer help out for 6 months, if asked very nicely?

A chairman somewhere in the world is rubbing his hands after hearing Owen is out a long period as he know's the Toon are desperate for a forward, one that could be rubbing his hands his the Feynoord chairman as Dirk Kuyt as been mentioned plenty of times with a move to England.

Wish SDPM was here to post lineups...if Holland plays their first team this could be a classic...and why would you want to risk facing Portugal when u could play Mexico??
