Id recommend doing it the other way around. youll find that a lot of the pieces you have to have for the big team collections are options for the smaller ones. You dont want to lock in cards for those short missions then eventually lock in other cards you could have also used the first time.

Just weighing in on the SE Harry Brecheen vs SE Vida Blue debate after completing the Brecheen mission...

They're basically equal, but it's worth pointing out that Brecheen gets a +15 stuff boost in the bullpen while Vida Blue only gets +10. So, if we're really all about the margins and eeking out each point, then Brecheen does come out a bit ahead as a reliever: 115/84/82 to Blue's 112/83/82.

By the way, I spent 8.5K for silver Enos Slaughter, 20K for gold Harvey Haddix, 21K for diamond Solly Hemus, and 1.5K for silver Howie Pollett. That's a grand total of 51K (clearly a couple of overpays in there), but for a card that people are still sleeping on. I expect the components to the Stan The Man mission to go up and was happy to get in for just 50K when a similar SE Vida Blue card is still fetching 150K a couple of months later.

That Carlos Ruiz with a 15k insta-buy on the auction house right now? That's mine. Popped that from a pack last night, looked at the auction menu, saw that the "94" guy had moved one for his version of 5k, and thought, well, where there's one fool, there might be another one, but started with a gentle first bid of 500.

Well, we're already over 3k.

Meanwhile I still can't make myself fork over four figures for a silver card.

If it was only one silver card… but it's like six o' them

I think it might be cheaper to just skip the silvers and Haddix, and buy the diamonds instead.

It was grabbed for the buy-it-now of 15k.

I may or may not have taken this post to heart and just finished collecting the cards to acquire Mr. Brecheen and sent down Warren Spahn so that Vida Blue and Brecheen could coexist in my bullpen...

And, so, naturally, in his first appearance as a Red Raider, Brecheen does this... (I know it will get better, but between this guy and Norm Cash, I'm starting to buy into that "new cards are penalized/rusty" conspiracy theory!!)

Was happy to see Boudreau for 15k BIN so I snapped him up to replace 92 Thon for my MIners. Figured a better avg and errors would be better than a .220 avg and 15 hrs that Thon was giving me.

The stooopid thing I did was NOT CHECK WHAT MISSION Thon was in, and put him up BIN for 11,111. Yeah, he sold immediately.

To the person who was one of the first people to finish the Houston missions then put up SE Cedeno for 50k, thank you. You made me 45k when I flipped him for 100.

Show-off....

PS: His actual price should be higher than 100k

I'm 7 cards away from 100 Ozzie.

He'll be a nice upgrade to the tried and true gold Boudreau/Pesky SS platoon that I've had since time immemorial.

Senators / Twins Collection

Johan Santana is in the house!!!

After about a month of actively working on it, I finally finished the Senators / Twins Collections to get SE SP Johan Santana, my 3rd historical perfect. Now all three of my teams have one!

Here's the deets:

17904 : Senators/Twins: Modern Days
23939 : Senators/Twins: Moving To Minnesota
18361 : Senators/Twins: The Glory Years
14351 : Senators/Twins: The Senators Early Years
03701 : Senators/Twins: The Senators Postwar Years

Out of the 56 cards needed, I had pulled 9, the highest being Cecil Travis (85).

But I still spent 78256 total. Considering Johan Santana's AVG7 is at 75K, maybe the collection is a negative value these days? The only other players in the collection I see myself using are CL Joe Nathan (96) and, for now, Joe Cronin for the defense. He's has a 2.3 WAR this season. I'm also trying out Goose Goslin (another reward card ) for a spell but he's not doing too well.

The Diamond Pack that came along with it yielded live Carlos Correa and Gold Jeff Burroughs.

Despite the cost, lots of fun working on this collection. And Santana is 2-0 in his first two starts as make a run for the 2nd Wild Card spot. We started the month 4 games out with only a 6.7% chance of making the playoffs and now we're 1.5 out with a 20% chance.

So you are probably the one snatching up all the cards I bid on. Good that you're finally out of the way!

I completed Glory Years a few days back (but have yet to submit anything), and after bleeding 2k for Don Lock and 13.5k for Garland Braxton did the two Senators collections today.

My total expenses so far might be this…?

00575 : Senators/Twins: Modern Days
07923 : Senators/Twins: Moving To Minnesota
06599 : Senators/Twins: The Glory Years
15975 : Senators/Twins: The Senators Early Years
04160 : Senators/Twins: The Senators Postwar Years

But I also already had roughly half the cards (including perfect Walter Johnson) due to opening a truly obnoxious and stupid amount of packs.

I'm now four cards short… but it's four ugly cards.

So you bought the Garland Braxton.

I’ve decided I have to do something to shake up my Orioles team, so I’m turning it into a DMV team and going after the four Washington missions.

(hisses with raised fur and menacing front teeth showing) Mine! It's all mine! You get in line! (plainly sits on top of the food bowl to protect the looty loot)

Yeah, and he has not gotten me anything through gameplay so far

I completed one of the Rangers missions, the one that overlaps with the third Senators mission, entirely by accident. Oh well, I'll take a free pack (which contained precious little) and a special bronze shortstop.

I *really* hope for bronze and silver tournaments. That's gonna be fun! But that is just an aside. Ed Brinkman's 110 D at short would be *awesome* in a bronze tournament. Which is why this little bugger stays with me.

I am still three cards short of the perfect Johan. Snatched a 1970 Tony Oliva for 895 PP, which I would normally consider too much, but now that I got this close and after getting the totally undeserved 13.5k PP for Carlos Ruiz, I am a little less of a sissy with overspending for silver cards.

That (70) Morneau card in the most modern mission is NEVER available. Seems like I have to spend thousands for a 2006 Santana that I will never use (but who I have on the Accountants, who do not collect ).

After further still-half-asleep deliberation, I forewent the 2006 Santana for 8k and instead pumped 22k into the (96) Joe Nathan, which is a card that I will actually use for the rest of PT.

That completes FOUR of five missions; only Moving to Minny left. It also burns almost all the PP I had after getting some lucky sales on live diamonds that were just collecting dust.

Haven't had a chance to update this since Ozzie came out. I collected for ~2 weeks leading up the collection missions for October. I spent around ~260k and completed the entire cardinals collection. Unfortunately, I accidently locked Al Hrabosky and 97 Gibson both, through an unfortunate user error. I could have sold one of those for the ~120k they're going for now. Expensive mistake.

Based on my current prices of the L7 prices, if I sold my Ozzie at 450k, along with all the other rewards, I'd make a profit of 432k, without taxes, so take another 10% off that.

Very good collection and I'm glad I collected ahead of time. Ozzie is my long-term SS, and Brecheen is a starter for me currently until I finish another collection, and then he probably goes to my pen.
