2030 WEEK 18 and a flurry of deadline activity
2030 WEEK 18
RECORD: 4-2 (28-36) OVERALL: 43-68 27.5 GB RUNS FOR: 466 (27) 15th RUNS AGAINST: 583 (18) 12th FRONT OFFICE/FANS: Angry 45/100 (-3) Fans aren't happy with the moves.... SCHEDULE: Off Day/3 vs El Paso/3 vs Houston 7/29 Off Day Heavy day of trading. “mine for yours' in New York, Arizona lands a huge young arm in Jones, if he can harness the control. Tulsa makes a pair of deals (and the game actually pulls off a three way!) as they send Lucott to the Yankees and then move Alexander in the 2nd deal to El Paso to bolster their rotation. 7/30 SAN 3 EP 2 W-Green (11-11) L-J.Jackson (6-13) S-Davenport (8) HR NONE Green 7.2IP 10H 1ER 9K's Bryant Mathews 3-4 RBI (13) Heeren 2-4 (.310) ALASKA-Stan Hall (17-3) tosses a CG 3-hitter, striking out 9 and walking none, to beat the Knights and former teammate John Drake (10-5) who gave up a run in 6.2IP. Viera went 3-4 with a 2B (25) and a SB (51) and Lowell Cook (just back from the DL) went 2-4 with a 2B (10) and an RBI (52). TRADE DEADLINE NEWS: SAN ANTONIO DEALS GIL The San Antonio Stars have traded 34 year old outfielder Luis Antonio Gil to the New Orleans Voodoo for 17 year old SP prospect Angel Cruz and 23 year old SP prospect Stan Beasley. Gil was signed to a 2 year 9.6M deal earlier this year. “We wish Luis nothing but success, he was a pro's pro in his short stay here. This trade is exactly the type of move a rebuilding club like ours has to make. We managed to continue whittling down the payroll for next year and at the same time acquire two pitchers who were both 1st round picks in the process. While we recognize the short term pain in this deal, hopefully our fans will realize the long term strategy” GM Curt Schilling said. Cruz was New Orleans #1 pick this year (13th overall) out of Grandview Prep HS, Boca Raton, FL and was signed for a 2.64M dollar bonus. A monster, 6'7”, he made the NYP League All Star team and is 4-1 2.72 in his 7 starts. Beasley was the Voodoo's 1st round pick in 2026 (7th overall) out of Clarksville HS, TN. He's a two time pitcher of the year (A in 2028 AA in 2029) and our scouts think he was rushed this year (6-5 5.68 in 16 starts for New Orleans). He'll head to AAA to continue working. He's a monster as well, standing 6'7” and weighing in at 230. Beasley is apparently a popular young player too, as his following made it known across the 'twitterverse' that they were elated with the trade. In another last minute deal San Antonio sent backup C Albert Coleman to the West Michigan White Caps for 25 year old OF Hector Santos. Coleman is an elite defender and good bat vs LHP. He helps fill the void left with the Gil trade. Santos was a supplemental pick of Buffalo in 2022 and has traveled around. He's a LF and a LHH with very good speed, very good pop and a good overall toolset that combines with a great clubhouse presence. The trade also allows me to recall C Ralph Irwin from Wilmington. 7/31 SAN 6 EP 1 W-Espinoza (3-4) L-Bernard (4-6) HR SAN-Bullock (24) Espinoza 7IP 1ER 7H Bullock 2-4 HR 2 RBI's (71) Maggs 2-4 2R ALASKA- Beat NY 14-0. August Recap
The Drake deal appears to be working for both parties, he's having a great season. Trujillo was the Hooks supplemental pick in 2025 (34th overall) out of Viewpoint HS in California, and he's turning in a rookie year for the ages. Right now it looks to be New York, Chicago, Alaska as division winners, with the Northeast being a battle between Providence and New Hampshire. Buffalo, Dayton and Columbus are trying to squeeze into 1 of those final 2 WC spots. Michigan will remain the only original IBL franchise to miss the playoffs, every year. Alaska is setup to obliterate the single season win record. Baltimore and Houston appear to be the firmest clubs in the CL, with the entire Pacific battling for that division. Vegas and Dallas I expect to go down to the wire. 5 teams within a game and a half of the last 2 wild card spots. Hoping Whimster can push to win a batting title in what may be his final year. It's not likely he'll hit his vesting option (135 games, he's on pace for 136).

Races, records and standings
6-7 games to go, and 1 division race and both wild card races left to decide as well as some individual stat races and some records that may fall, to watch.
The FL is pretty much decided, with the exception of the 2nd and 3rd wild card spots. 1) Alaska 2) Chicago or New York (Providence with an outside shot) 3) Chicago or New York (Providence with an outside shot) 4) Providence (New Hampshire a LONG shot) Wild Cards 1) New Hampshire (most likely) 2-3) Staten Island, Buffalo, Green Bay REMAINING SCHEDULES (Bold denotes matchup vs Playoff team or contending team) New York 4 vs Buffalo 3 @ Staten Island Chicago 3 @ Green Bay 3 @ Dayton Providence 4 @ Michigan 3 @ West Michigan New Hampshire 4 @ West Michigan 3 vs Michigan Staten Island 4 @ Brooklyn 3 vs New York Buffalo 4 @ New York 3 @ Brooklyn Green Bay 3 vs Chicago 3 @ Columbus So Alaska will get the bye. The batting race is going to be close, Cano vs Barrios. The HR race is going to be close as well, all 3 guys in it. I'm pulling for Martin. Pennington and Casas are the likely the Saves leader and Hall or Drake for the ERA title. In the Coastal 1) Houston (outside shot for Las Vegas) 2) Las Vegas (Dallas has a chance) 3-4) Baltimore/Los Angeles Wild Cards 1) Dallas (If they win out it could be Vegas here) 2-3) Tulsa, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Sacramento are all vying for the 2nd and 3rd. REMAINING SCHEDULES (Bold denotes matchup vs Playoff team or contending team) Houston 4 @ El Paso 3 @ Tulsa Las Vegas 4 @ Dallas 3 vs San Antonio Baltimore 4 vs Pittsburgh 3 vs Philadelphia Los Angeles 4 @ Sacramento 3 vs San Jose Dallas 4 vs Las Vegas 3 vs New Orleans Tulsa 3 vs Corpus Christi 3 vs Houston Pittsburgh 4 @ Baltimore 3 vs Boston Philadelphia 4 @ Boston 3 @ Baltimore New Orleans 4 @ San Antonio 3 @ Dallas Sacramento 4 vs Los Angeles 3 vs Fresno As far as records go. HITTING RECORDS James Welch is having just the 11th season ever of 400+ total bases. He's 59 short of the record (Castro (CHI) 468 2026) Luis Soto (HOU) has set the single season record for singles with 179, 2 better than Ramon Castro (177 in 2026) Darren Gamble (HOU) has 55 doubles. The single season record is 62 set by Fernando Moya (PIT) in 2024. Soto also has 16 triples, 3 shy of Luis Rubio (DAY) and Carl Crawford (GB) who had 19. Welch's 51 home runs is just the 13 season of 51+ home runs. Only 4 players have ever hit over 55. With 2 more RBI's Benton Crowder (HOU) would become just the 14th player (and 17th time) someone has driven in 150 or more runs. Jorge Viera (ALK) is 3 SB's shy of Jimmy Rollins record of 80. Ricardo Martinez (COL) has 200 strikeouts. Only 4 players have ever done that with Chandler Harris doing it 2 times, including the single season record of 207. Ricciardi Vasario (ALK) has 9.42 WAR. There have been just 10 total seasons where a hitter has recorded a WAR of 10+, and it's been done by 9 players (Alex Rodriguez did it 2 times) PITCHING RECORDS Roy Oswalt's ERA of 2.359 would be the 7th best season ever. Stan Hall (ALK) next win will set a new single season mark at 26 David Rodgers (ALK) 22-1 .9565 WIN % is tied with Stan Hall for the 3rd best ever. Maurice Patterson .9583 (23-1) is 2nd to Gabriel Pimentel's perfect 2023 season (18-0) Esteban Fernandez (LV) has 45 saves, 5 short of John O'Halloran's (EP) 50 in 2027. Carlos Vargas (WMI) has given up 54 home runs, 1 shy of the single season record set by Maurice Paterson in 2028 RJ's (ALK) 303 strikeouts are a new Frontier League single season record and the first 300 K season in FL history. He's 29 shy of Bryant Thomas' 332 but if he gets 8 more it'll be the 7th best single season total ever. RJ's H/9 total of 6.407 is the 6th best season ever, Shawn Calhou's 2013 season of 6.282 is next up. The record was set in 2028 by Brandon Webb at 5.792 RJ's 12.210 K/9 is the 4th best ever. 12.249 is 3rd, and the best ever is 12.750 by Jorge Palacios (FRE) in 2025 MILESTONES IN REACH Jerry Grant (PRO) needs 3 RBI's to reach 1000 Ramon Castro (GB) needs 5

Now we're past the 25th, was marking it a day ahead. Just 3-4 games to go and it's tight.
Cano takes the FL Batting Race lead. Alfredo Hernandez hits 2 HR's to tie Gomez. Casas blows a save.

The races are all over for Divisions.
The FL Battle is now for the 2nd two WC spots, and between Chicago and Providence for the 3-4 seed. In the CL it's between 4 teams for the final 2 spots and Baltimore and LA are battling for the 3-4 seed. Mario Gomez homered twice to pull 2 ahead for the HR race in the FL. Cano is now 6pts up on Barrios in the batting race. Casas pulls within a save of Pennington. Sanchez wins his 22nd to pull ahead of Oswalt for the W race.

An exciting finish as 5 teams remain alive for the remaining 3 wild card spots.
