We finally won a series again, beating the Marlins 2 games to 1. Pitching was doing well finally, but will face a serious test in the upcoming Interleague series at Los Angeles. At least Erik Bedard should be used to those American League batters. The Angels - like we a save bet for a playoff berth the last three years - had a rather cold start to the season as well. Besides we have to deal with some tricky free agent negotiations (Gross and Fujita). Especially tricky when keeping in mind that Fielder's and Braun's arbitration years soon come to an end.

Positive: the Angels didn't sweep as thanks to the best career start of Carlos Villanueva. Also fine that we got six quality starts in eight tries this month. But negative: our offense is very cold. Should we give the guys more them or shock them with a blockbuster trade? A potential improovement could be Buffalo's Brent Clevlen (.288, 4 HR, 9 RBI) he is only the 4th outfielder of his team. We now make a trip to Canada to visit the breathtaking Port of Vancouver Arena. Hopefully we can win the series against the rather sad Marmots. Also sad that we trail the Reds (!) by two games now in NL Central.

In German football (= soccer) language we have a saying "let's try to keep the ball down", sadly Erik Bedard doesn't know any German and couldn't keep the ball down either. He suffered 60 hits (9 home runs) and 18 walks in 40.0 innings pitched. I'm really curious how he deals with AAA batters. I'm curious as well if Manny Parra can be a dominant starting pitcher as he was back in 2008. The NL Central has four team tied for first (we, Cubs, Astros and Reds) with the Cardinals 1.5 games back. The upcoming three game home series against the Cubs promises some interesting action. According to our scouts their three best players are all relievers, but weren't the Cubs a slugging team last season? Let's hope they won't start swinging for the fences this weekend, as we send Rosario and Villanueva to the mound. Both are rumoured to give up a homerun here and there once in a while. The Cubs don't have a natural 1B on their active roster and hope outfielder Drew Rundle can get the job done.
