Well, it has begun. I was hoping for something more from my light heavies.
Any thing I get out of my middleweights will be gravy, but they give me a puhcher's chance. The Punching Gatitos get to start off in 1st place. Looking forward to checking the bout logs. Looks like I'm off to a good start at getting the #1 pick. My guy Elmer Ray notched a win off Uzcudon. My 9's and 8's are from welter on down so I expect a better showing there than the big guys. I'm realistic about my team's chances. I'm not worried about contending for the team championship, but I'm hoping my Flyweight Hilario Zapata will make a run for the individual championship. That would be nice.

Tomato City vs. Muckboys - round 1
September 4,2006: American Airlines Arena, Miami, FL
Bad blood has already surfaced between these two teams before the start of the season. Both teams have been claiming that they will win the West division. We'll let the action in the square circle decide that. The Muckboys got the better of the first meeting between these two winning pretty much by the KO. Over 50% of the bouts ended in a stoppage tonight. Only two victories separated these two but the Muckboys doubled the Tomato City's KO count. Both teams will meet again in the season final in round 10. Congrats go out to the Muckboys, as they recorded the first DQ loss of the season. HW Ron Lyle (rookie) of Tomato City was added to provide Tomato city with some wins at that weight class. Lyle ended up getting knocked out in both of his matches. Maybe it was just nerves. Big upset! Tomato City's Terry McGovern 16-2-0 (14) lost a TKO6 to the Muckboy's Troy Dorsey 4-10-2 (1) on a bad cut on the bridge of the nose. I thought that it was a bad decision on the part of the hometown referee to stop it on a cut on the nose but I guess that is why you pay the refs off before the fight. How much did that cost you Romy?Scoreboard: Tomato City 15-17-0 (6) = 36 Muckboys 17-15-0 (12)(DQ 1) = 45 Bout Results: (Tomato City listed first) HW- Ron Lyle L KO5 Matt Skelton HW- Ron Lyle L KO5 Tommy Morrison HW- George Chuvalo W KO8 Matt Skelton HW- George Chuvalo W KO11 Tommy Morrison LHW- Billy Fox L TKO6 Melio Bettina LHW- Billy Fox L UD12 Julio Gonzalez LHW- George Gardner L TKO6 Julio Gonzalez LHW- George Gardner W TKO9 Melio Bettina MW- Gomeo Brennan L UD12 Paul Pender MW- Gomeo Brennan W DQ7 Walter Cartier (Walter Cartier advances to pre-prime) MW- Anton Raadik L MD12 Paul Pender MW- Anton Raadik W UD12 Walter Cartier WW- Fausto Rodriguez L KO2 Andrew Lewis (Andrew Lewis advances to pre-prime) WW- Fausto Rodriguez W UD12 Kermit Cintron WW- Oba Carr W UD12 Kermit Cintron WW- Oba Carr W TKO8 Andrew Lewis LW- Mando Ramos L KO11 Rodolfo Gonzalez LW- Mando Ramos L UD12 Edwin Rosario LW- Larry Boardman W KO7 Rodolfo Gonzalez LW- Larry Boardman L TKO7 Edwin Rosario (Edwin Rosario advances to pre-prime) FW- Terry McGovern W UD12 Carmelo Negron FW- Terry McGovern L TKO6 Troy Dorsey FW- Patrick Ford W UD12 Carmelo Negron FW- Patrick Ford W UD12 Troy Dorsey BW- Eddie Cook W KO12 Pete Frissina BW- Eddie Cook W SD12 Jose Medel BW- Lupe Pintor L UD12 Pete Frissina BW- Lupe Pintor W MD12 Jose Medel Fly- Gilberto Gonzalez L KO6 Hugo Soto Fly- Gilberto Gonzalez L KO1 Candido Tellez Fly- Carlos Murillo L KO5 Candido Tellez Fly- Carlos Murillo L KO9 Hugo Soto * rosters for both tweams have been updated on page one |

It's nice to see that my streak of getting the first DQ lost of the season is intact. Lets see how long we can keep that running. That was a heck of match and their a tough team but I knew my KO power would carry us in the end. That power is whats going to make us hard to beat. Man, props have to go out to my HWs would came up huge with a couple of stoppages over Ron Lyle and of course to my Flys who scored four straight stoppages to seal the win. Hopefully, this win is enough to put us into first place where we can remain the rest of the year. Finally, it looks like we well on the pace to shattering our KO record from last year.

Brazilian Barbarians vs Boxing Kankaroos - round 1
September 4,2006: Vodafone Arena, Melbourne, Australia
The Barbarian's visit to Australia was not a pleasent one. The Kangaroos just plain kicked them to death. The Kangaroos had two champions in action tonight and both managed to hang onto their belts. The Kangaroos moved into the early lead in the West division, scoring a season high 51 points. The Kangaroos will travel to the states next round and face the tough Tomato City team. The Barbarians will be a home next round and host the Muckboys from Florida. Rookie Report: The Kangaroo's rookies had a combined record of 3-3-0 (2). Barbarian's rookies compiled a record of 1-5-0 Scoreboard: Brazilian Barbarians 11-20-1 (5) (DQ-1) = 27 Boxing Kankaroos 20-11-1 (10) = 51 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Championship Bouts: (Kangaroos listed first) FW- (CH)Young Griffo W UD15 (#26)Richie Lemos 3-11-1 (judges scoring: 147-137, 148-137, 147-137) FW- (CH)Young Griffo W TKO8 (#18)Ruben Olivares 9-7-0 (7) Fly- (CH)Vic Darchinyan 17-1-0 (17) W TKO5 (NR)Isidro Perez 0-1-0 Fly- (CH)Vic Darchinyan 18-1-0 (18) W TKO10 (#21)Freddie Castillo 3-10-2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bout Results: (Brazilian Barbarians) HW- Joe Mesi L MD12 Joe Goddard HW- Joe Mesi L KO4 Max Baer HW- Michael Dokes W TKO10 Joe Goddard HW- Michael Dokes W UD12 Max Baer LHW- Bob Foster W TKO4 Paul Briggs LHW- Bob Foster W KO4 Rudi Koopmans LHW- Mike Rossman L DQ8 Rudi Koopmans LHW- Mike Rossman W UD12 Paul Briggs MW- Vito Antuofermo L UD12 Sam Soliman MW- Vito Antuofermo L SD12 Lester Ellis MW- Robert Villemain TechD10 Sam Soliman MW- Robert Villemain W TKO11 Lester Ellis WW- Cocoa Kid W UD12 Jack Carroll WW- Cocoa Kid L TKO2 Julian Holland WW- Johnny Greco W MD12 Julian Holland WW- Johnny Greco W UD12 Jack Carroll LW- Ernesto Espana W UD12 Jimmy Soo LW- Ernesto Espana W KO9 Sean O'Grady LW- Art Aragon L KO11 Sean O'Grady LW- Art Aragon L TKO6 Jimmy Soo FW- Richie Lemos L KO1 Jeff Fenech (Jeff Fenech advances to pre-prime) FW- Ruben Olivares L KO7 Jeff Fenech BW- Khaokor Galaxy L UD12 Elley Bennett BW- Khaokor Galaxy L UD12 Lionel Rose BW- Gilberto Roman L TKO7 Lionel Rose BW- Gilberto Roman L UD12 Elley Bennett Fly- Isidro Perez L UD12 Hussein Hussein (Hussein Hussein advances to pre-prime) Fly- Freddie Castillo L UD12 Hussein Hussein * rosters for both teams are updated on page one |

Ouch, that was brutal well I enjoyed first place while it lasted. The Kangroos looked mighty good there, they might be a big threat to us now. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep up that level thoughout the season.

Maybe I should have kept "Tex" Cobb on the team after all. Oh well, there's still time for him to turn it around. I didn't expect (9) Lupe Pintor to lose to (5) Pete Frissina either, but I'm quite happy that (9) Jose Medel was sent home w/ 2 losses (HA!!!) I also was shocked by (9) Terry McGovern's loss to (6) Troy Dorsey. The inability to field a competitive Flyweight sealed the defeat for Tomato City. One word: PITIFUL!! Last observations: The magic w/ Mando Ramos is gone and Gomeo Brennan absolutely stinks. If he doesn't improve, there's gonna be an 8 in the Free Agent Pool soon. Well done Muckboys. You may have won the battle, but the war isn't over yet. As a diehard Red Sox fan who roots for any team against the Yankees I will announce that my 2nd favorite UTBA team (after Tomato City - of course) is definitely any opponent of the Muckboys on any day of the week... |

Romultitus: Oh yeah, I'm well aware that the war is far from over. Hell just look at last year when you beat me early but I still came in above you, it's a long season. Of course, it looks like we got to worry about the Boxing Kangroos. Sadly, I need abit of help from ya'll next round so that we can catch the Kangroos, hopefully, so how you both lose that match. See you in the last round.

Romultiltus: I'm hoping that the Kangaroos' win was more of the Brazilians just being that bad and the Kangaroos having a hot night cause last thing well either of us need is another high-quailty team in the division. Well, we'll find out if the Kangaroos are for real after next round.
