Well, it has begun. I was hoping for something more from my light heavies.
Any thing I get out of my middleweights will be gravy, but they give me a puhcher's chance. The Punching Gatitos get to start off in 1st place. Looking forward to checking the bout logs. Looks like I'm off to a good start at getting the #1 pick. My guy Elmer Ray notched a win off Uzcudon. My 9's and 8's are from welter on down so I expect a better showing there than the big guys.

I'm realistic about my team's chances. I'm not worried about contending for the team championship, but I'm hoping my Flyweight Hilario Zapata will make a run for the individual championship. That would be nice.

Bonner Springs Bald Beavers vs. Tile Hill Top Team
UTBA Team Champion Bald Beavers started defense of their team title as they were looking to make easy work of the hosting Hilltoppers. They had a tougher time than planned as the Hilltoppers were game and looking for the upset. If it wasn't for the Beaver's MW champ, this match would have been to close to call.

Looks like Young Perez wasted no time making me pay for that ill-advised trade for Dennis Adams. I knew as soon as I did it I would regret it...

He'll have to get past Vic Darchynian first KC.

Tomato City vs. Muckboys - round 1

September 4,2006: American Airlines Arena, Miami, FL

Bad blood has already surfaced between these two teams before the start of the season. Both teams have been claiming that they will win the West division. We'll let the action in the square circle decide that. The Muckboys got the better of the first meeting between these two winning pretty much by the KO. Over 50% of the bouts ended in a stoppage tonight. Only two victories separated these two but the Muckboys doubled the Tomato City's KO count. Both teams will meet again in the season final in round 10.

Congrats go out to the Muckboys, as they recorded the first DQ loss of the season.

HW Ron Lyle (rookie) of Tomato City was added to provide Tomato city with some wins at that weight class. Lyle ended up getting knocked out in both of his matches. Maybe it was just nerves.

Big upset!
Tomato City's Terry McGovern 16-2-0 (14) lost a TKO6 to the Muckboy's Troy Dorsey 4-10-2 (1) on a bad cut on the bridge of the nose. I thought that it was a bad decision on the part of the hometown referee to stop it on a cut on the nose but I guess that is why you pay the refs off before the fight. How much did that cost you Romy?

Scoreboard:
Tomato City 15-17-0 (6) = 36

Well lets just say I won't be buying anything else with the fight purses from my last MBF fights. Anyway, things like food and such are vastly overrated. Making sure I win the UTBA is our most important concern.

It's nice to see that my streak of getting the first DQ lost of the season is intact. Lets see how long we can keep that running. That was a heck of match and their a tough team but I knew my KO power would carry us in the end. That power is whats going to make us hard to beat. Man, props have to go out to my HWs would came up huge with a couple of stoppages over Ron Lyle and of course to my Flys who scored four straight stoppages to seal the win. Hopefully, this win is enough to put us into first place where we can remain the rest of the year.

Finally, it looks like we well on the pace to shattering our KO record from last year.

Ouch, that was brutal well I enjoyed first place while it lasted. The Kangroos looked mighty good there, they might be a big threat to us now. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep up that level thoughout the season.

Well, the Tomatoes lived up to their name and took a beating. This was the 2nd worst performance in team history for points - the worst being last season's abysmal effort against IceTea.

Maybe I should have kept "Tex" Cobb on the team after all. Oh well, there's still time for him to turn it around. I didn't expect (9) Lupe Pintor to lose to (5) Pete Frissina either, but I'm quite happy that (9) Jose Medel was sent home w/ 2 losses (HA!!!)

I also was shocked by (9) Terry McGovern's loss to (6) Troy Dorsey.

The inability to field a competitive Flyweight sealed the defeat for Tomato City. One word: PITIFUL!!

Last observations: The magic w/ Mando Ramos is gone and Gomeo Brennan absolutely stinks. If he doesn't improve, there's gonna be an 8 in the Free Agent Pool soon.

Well done Muckboys. You may have won the battle, but the war isn't over yet. As a diehard Red Sox fan who roots for any team against the Yankees I will announce that my 2nd favorite UTBA team (after Tomato City - of course) is definitely any opponent of the Muckboys on any day of the week...

Ha, Last game of the season yep but a 50+ point score would have put ya into the playoffs. However, ya'll fought like Peyton Manning in a playoff game....with both hands around ya'lls throats.

Romultitus: Oh yeah, I'm well aware that the war is far from over. Hell just look at last year when you beat me early but I still came in above you, it's a long season. Of course, it looks like we got to worry about the Boxing Kangroos. Sadly, I need abit of help from ya'll next round so that we can catch the Kangroos, hopefully, so how you both lose that match. See you in the last round.

I'm hoping for a good bounceback against the Kangaroos. Tomato City put a good 51-29 smackdown on them last season, so you may get your wish. Just like in any sports, some teams do not match up well with others. I just hope my guys still have the Kangaroos' number.

Ah, well that fully explains your performance in that match. Well, in that case look forward to meeting you in the playoff and having a guarantee win.

Romultiltus: I'm hoping that the Kangaroos' win was more of the Brazilians just being that bad and the Kangaroos having a hot night cause last thing well either of us need is another high-quailty team in the division. Well, we'll find out if the Kangaroos are for real after next round.
