Jeez, Cochrane AND Grove!?

Paige should be interesting, I wonder if he will debut at the age of around
42 as he did in reality, or if he will start his career in the major leagues?

well i would think that he would come in at a young age because there is no race barrier, which would let black players come in at an early age i.e. before 1947

speaking of negro leaguers, when do satchel pagie and josh gibson debut?
Whatever season they turn 21 or 22. That's when I've been adding them to the pool.

1925 FINAL STANDINGS

The season began with most of those "in the know" predicting a showdown between the Brooklyn Perfectos and the world champion Chicago Colts, and at first it seemed as if their prognostications would come to pass. Babe Ruth had another monstrous season, winning the Triple Crown yet again with a .384, 59 HR, 156 RBI season, but the rest of Perfectos faded with their pitching. "Big John" Bogart was the only moundsman with a solid season for the Brooklyn boys. Chicago nosedived after getting out to a 30-15 start. Taking advantage of their slump were the Phillies and the Highlanders. Philadelphia led all teams with a .308 batting average, but it was the Highlanders who put it all together in the end. If 1924 was the breakout year for Arnold Colfax, then 1925 was Herman Smith's turn. The two sluggers made a fearsome pair at the plate, and we should probably get used to this team near the top of the standings. In addition to Slug and Goliath, they also have top prospects Dewey Creacy and James Concannon coming up the pipe. Like Colfax and Smith, they also play the corner spots in the infield, so it's likely they'll need to learn new positions, because those spots are taken for quite some time.

The St. Louis Maroons disappointed their fanbase by failing to repeat, plummeting to a .500 record, due mainly to their poor 34-43 showing on the road. The New York Knights surged on the back of the amazing Oscar Charleston who had his best year yet. Charleston was a veritable run machine, scoring 172 times, obliterating the previous record of 154 set by Elmer Flick in 1901. He also knocked in 149, which eclipsed Jud "Boojum" Wilson's mark of 139 set four years earlier. They fell short of the eventual pennant winners, the Detroit Wolverines, mainly due to their pitching. Detroit won with little flash...just consistency from starters "Wild Bill" Piercy and Slap Hensley, who combined for 47 wins. That and their stellar defense helped them lead both leagues in runs allowed. Even so, they head into the World Series as severe underdogs.

MO JENKS, CF, LOUISVILLE COLONELS, 36 Years Old - Jenks takes a little longer to get his bat around, but he still has a pretty solid power stroke. He hasn't decided whether to retire or come back for one more season.

After a 21 year absence, the Highlanders and Wolverines both have made it back to the postseason for a rematch of the 1904 contest. Despite these two teams' reputations, they boast the top two pitching stffs in the game. The series may very well be lower scoring than expected. The Wolverines will be at a huge disadvantage, though, when they come into the Big Apple and visit "The House That Slug Built" aka Highlander Stadium.

PREDICTION: Highlanders in 6

1925 WORLD SERIES

10/1/1925 - GAME 1 WOLVERINES 2 - HIGHLANDERS 5

Pat McNulty went 4 for 4 to lead the Highlanders and Arnold Colfax knocked him in twice, the second time on a 6th inning jack to put New York up for good. Sam Streeter pitched a complete game for the win.

10/2/1925- GAME 2 WOLVERINES 9 - HIGHLANDERS 11

New York and Detroit gave the fans the slugfest they want, hitting 6 homers between the two squads. The Wolverines gave the game away in the 8th, though, when errors by Dick Burrus and Ryan Gleason led to 5 unearned runs. Detroit rallied for 2 in the top of the 9th, but the lead was too large. They head back to the Motor City down 2 to zip.

10/4/1925 - GAME 3 HIGHLANDERS 1 - WOLVERINES 6

Slap Hensley took control back in Detroit, holding both Herman Smith and Arnold Colfax hitless en route to a Game 3 complete victory, putting the Wolverines back in the thick of it.

10/5/1925 - GAME 4 HIGHLANDERS 0 - WOLVERINES 4

Bill Piercy followed Hensley's gem with one of his own, allowing only 3 hits and stifling any momentum the Highlanders thought they had. It's a 3 game series now.

10/6/1925 - GAME 5 HIGHLANDERS 5 - WOLVERINES 3

Down 3-2 in the 8th, Dewey Creacy came in off the bench and launched a pinch-hit 2 run bomb to put New York up by 1. The Highlanders added one more to take Game 5 and send the series back to the Bronx.

10/8/1925 - GAME 6 WOLVERINES 1 - HIGHLANDERS 3

In what seemed to be a replay of Game 5, Dewey Creacy came off the bench again and hit one out of the park to put New York up for good in the 7th and send home Detroit in defeat. This young kid has guaranteed himself a place in Highlander lore.

1925 WORLD CHAMPS - NEW YORK HIGHLANDERS

SERIES MVP: Dewey Creacy - .667, 2 Gamewinning pinch-hit HR, 4 RBI

metsgeek, I've always enjoyed your dynasties. The alternate history is a great touch. Looking forward to seeing what happens in history a bit more than I'm interested in seeing how the Colts are doing.
