1954 WORLD SERIES RESULTS
Game 1 Cleveland 6 - Brooklyn 5, 10 innings Ted Williams went 2 for 5 with a HR and 3 RBI, and Ginger Beaumont had 3 hits, but it all went for nought as the Blues rallied back, scoring 1 run in the 9th to tie it up, and winning on Mel Ott's solo shot off of Pete Charton. Ott batted 3 for 5 with 1 HR and 3 RBI in the winning cause. Game 2 Cleveland 1 - Brooklyn 0 Roy Hitt simply shackles the Superba offense, allowing only 4 hits in a complete game. The only run is scored on another Mel Ott HR. Game 3 Brooklyn 7 - Cleveland 1 Williams, Bell and Rodriguez each knock one out as they finally get one in the win column. Game 4 Brooklyn 8 - Cleveland 3 The Superbas tie the Series up at 2 as A-Rod and Rudy York each knock in 3 runs. Game 5 Brooklyn 10 - Cleveland 1 Rudy York knocks in another 4 runs to send the Superbas back to Brooklyn with a 3-2 lead after coming in to Cleveland winless. Blues' fans are feeling the blues as they watch Roy Hitt struggle to recapture his Game 2 magic. Game 6 Cleveland 8 - Brooklyn 5 Mel Ott explodes for 2 HR and 5 RBI to send the series to a Game 7. Dreifort is injured in the 5th inning, and replacement RP Francisco Rodriguez blows it by giving up 6 quick runs. Game 7 Cleveland 5 - Brooklyn 0 Roy Hitt returns to his Game 2 form and shuts out the Superbas yet again, sending the Superbas home, and allowing the Blues to repeat as World Champs. 1954 CHAMPIONS - CLEVELAND BLUES 3RD CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES MVP - Mel Ott .280 Avg, 4 HR, 9 RBI Damn! My boys completely CHOKED. The road team won each game in this series.

1955 WORLD SERIES PREVIEW
NEW YORK YANKEES (94-60) - These two teams are pretty similar, built on power and pitching. For the Yanks, the two big boppers are Darren Daulton (.324, 34 HR, 104 RBI) and Bobby Higginson (.310, 38 HR, 110 RBI). They couldn't steal candy from a premature baby, however, ranking 19th in the league with a whopping 35 total SB's for the entire team. Their pitching is great, ranked 1st in Team ERA, but they will be without "Strawberry Bill" Bernhard (25-9, 2.75 ERA) who was injured at the end of the season with a ruptured triceps tendon. Cactus Keck (26-9, 3.12 ERA) and Dave Righetti (17-11, 3.61 ERA) will have to carry the load. BROOKLYN SUPERBAS (95-59) - After yet another meltdown in the postseason, the Superbas fans are beginning to wonder if their team has any heart. On paper, this squad should roll over their opponents. Alex Rodriguez (.319, 49 HR, 156 RBI) had what looks to be his 4th Speaker campaign, setting a new NL mark for homeruns (Baltimore's Dale Murphy set the overall mark this year with 52). Rudy York (.270, 42 HR, 136 RBI) was close behind, and Ginger Beaumont (.336, 66 RBI, 62 SB) tore up the basepaths with his lightning quicjkness. On the mound, the Superbas were led by their two aces, Ed Morris (24-10, 2.69 ERA) and surprising rookie phenom, Tim Keefe (26-8, 2.44 ERA). their bullpen is their only weakness, so you can be sure that the starters will be left in until their arms fall off. PREDICTION - I keep picking Brooklyn and they keep losing. Their last 4 World Series appearances have been losses, but I'm picking them again anyway. Strawberry Bill's injury leaves a hole that the Yankees don't need. Brooklyn in 6. Last edited by metsgeek; 01-21-2004 at 12:57 AM. |

1955 WORLD SERIES RESULTS
Game 1 Brooklyn 0 - New York 1 The only run Tim Keefe gave up was a solo shot to Bobby Higginson. Unfortunately, that was all the Yanks would need as Mike Mussina flatlines the Superbas offense, allowing only 4 hits in a complete game. Game 2 Brooklyn 5 - New York 2 Ed Morris comes in and knocks some sense into the Yanks, allowing only 2 runs. Rogers Hornsby goes 3 for 4 and Rudy York knocks in 2 runs in the win. Game 3 New York 2 - Brooklyn 7 Across town in Brooklyn, Lefty Leifield holds the Yankees to 2 runs for the second day in a row, while banging out 3 hits in his own cause. Ted Williams goes 3 for 4 with 3 RBI to lead Brooklyn. Game 4 New York 3 - Brooklyn 10 This time Tim Keefe gets some run support as leadoff batter Armando Marsans goes 3 for 5 with 2 triples and 3 RBI. A-Rod knocks out 2 and Teddy Ballgame add a tater of his own as the Superbas can smell the crown, up 3 games to 1. Game 5 New York 2 - Brooklyn 3, 10 innings A-Rod gets 2 doubles and knocks in a run, but it takes a walkoff homerun by Ted Williams in the bottom of the 10th to win it all for the Superbas 3-2. The headlines of the morning newspapers sum it all up in just one word for Brooklyn fans: "FINALLY!" 1955 CHAMPIONS - BROOKLYN SUPERBAS 13TH CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES CO-MVP's: Alex Rodriguez .350, 2 HR, 4 RBI Ted Williams .286, 2 HR, 6 RBI |

UGH!!!
I clicked "No" by mistake when it asked if I wanted to import real rookies. I had to delete all the generated rookies and import the correct ones from the database one by one.
